What did you pack? Did you bring everything you needed? Anything you'd leave at home? Any random things you wish you had brought like a pillow or socks or anything? :)

  • Loading the player...
  • i still have an inside baby but my friend who just had a baby reminded me to bring my own pillows and towels cause the hospital has rough ones

  • I had my own pillow, nursing tanks (forget bras), and comfy loose shirts. Obviously I has other things but I was really glad I packed that stuff

  • Aside from my "labor bag" (which I didn't end up needing save for our camera due to needing a semi-emergency RCS for pre-e), I packed the following:
    - travel sized toiletries
    - PJs (button down for BFing)
    - yoga pants x2
    - cardigans x2
    - nursing tanks x2
    - Motherlove nipple cream
    - chargers
    - makeup
    - brush and comb
    - underwear x4
    - lip balm
    - bath towel and hand towel
    - flip flops
    - empty tote bag to pack hospital freebies

I could have done with only one pair of yoga pants, one tank, one cardigan, and two undies (I preferred to wear the hospital gowns for the majority of our 3 night stay). SO glad I packed my own towels -- I didn't do that with DD and it made my shower so much nicer! Hospital towels are crap. Never put on any makeup (I did with DD but we were there for a week bc she was in the NICU). Used everything else.

Had my mom bring up my BrestFriend pillow up after 2 nights. Those hospital pillows were so cumbersome for BFing. Wish I'd had it the entire time. Actually, I would have loved 2 of our regular pillows as well but figured maybe that was a bit overkill.

  • I was really hot so I wore yoga shorts from walmart Instead of pants. just bought a bigger size they were so comfy plus they were $5 so I didn't care about them. I had 2 zip up hoodies to wear over my nursing tops I loved made it easy. I didn't wear the gown after giving birth personally. I was thankful for the extra camis I packed due to leaking. I didn't brin any nursing supplies hospital provided everything. Definitely need an extra bag to grab the things left in your room and extras the hospital gives you. I had 2 tolietry bags- 1 for next to the bed with lotion Chapstick brush makeup so it was close to me and the other with shower stuff for the bathroom.
I overpacked but I was thankful for everything I had it made it more comfortable while your getting used to your new life.
  • Def being food- I only stay in hosp for 24 hours so I didn't really need much but I was soooo hungry at night after dinner.

I needed my tooth brush, an outfit to go home with my cell charger and that's about it. I def over packed and didn't use 1/2 of what was in my bag. I was so exhausted from labor I didn't really think about much else other than food (not including the obvious baby stuff like bfing, skin to skin, etc)

What I used: toiletries, nursing tanks (2), slippers, socks, phone charger. Went home in a nursing tank, plus the maternity pants & cardigan I showed up in. Didn't even need to spare undies that I'd packed- went home in the mesh. Wish I'd brought more entertainment because I was induced and the first sox hours or so were dull.

  • Bringing my pillow, towels and socks were the best. I didn't worry about food, because I was allowed to order food when I was hungry, 24 hrs a day. I packed too many clothes. Especially undies, the mesh were way more comfy. (I had a RCS). I wish I would have brought a light throw blanket, the hospital ones were itchy and not enough warmth.

  • An actual blanket for DH. The hospital ones are crappy and he already has to sleep on a shitty little pull out.

This I learned when I visited my friend 6 weeks ago. Take a plastic bag or something to put your dirty clothing in! She was in for 2 days for monitoring due to aspiration, baby had an explosive poop in that time that went all up babys back and over her trousers. She rinsed the clothing but didn't have anything to put them in!

  • The only thing I wished we had and didn't was food and flip flops. I had brought slipper socks but our room was so hot I just wanted to be bare foot. I forgot how starving u are after labor and then breast feeding. I wish I had brought snacks. The breakfast I got didn't even fill me up after labor. Also there was no food for middle of the night which would have been great. Zip ups were great after and if you have one bring a belly band. The hospital gave me one and it was so nice to wear with my saggy jello belly. That was the one thing new this time I didn't have with ds birth and would have really liked.

  • Definitely bring your own pillow.
  • Thanks all! So I've REPACKED my hospital bag, and I've got a pillow and plenty of snacks (although I do love hospital ice!)
