  • That's the name I was trying to remember!
  • I have Annabel Karmel's (spelling?) book but I never followed it for the purees. I just cooked fruits/veggies then puréed them in the cuisinart then froze in ice cube trays
  • I really liked their chart for introducing foods. Was on my fridge for a year. I was always told its on the conservative side of when to introduce what, but it worked for us ;)

  • I have a book called Cooking for Baby. I know you can use the internet to find recipes, but I like the way this book was organized and I made notes on the pages about what he liked or how much the recipe made, etc. the book is organized by age, so I just went page by page, month by month.

  • Baby Bites is a great book. It's stuffed full of info, but well organized, and it has a recipe section if you just want a quick look for ideas. https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Bites-Everything-Feeding-Toddlers-Making-ebook/dp/B004FGN5CU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397352789&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+bites

  • Our pedi told us to avoid certain foods because of the nitrates... Carrots, spinach, beets, turnips. I'm sure there were more I just can't remember right now. Any STM have problems with these veggies? We belong to an organic csa... I'm wondering if that would make the veggies any safer.
  • We are starting at 6-7 monthly but mainly going BLW and I have the Infantino station so I will do some purées that way as well.

LO already attacked a banana I was eating the other day when I was holding her and eating, so she has had her first couple of bites...

Well, my doctor said I could start anytime I wanted to but to skip cereal probably since he has been constipated. So I'm going to spend a couple of weeks getting some food stocked up in the freezer now that the farmer's market is open, clean up the dining room so we can actually sit at the table to feed him, order his highchair and then around 5mo. or so we plan to start. Or I might give him some avocado tomorrow. Who knows.

I planned on 6 months because Liam didn't want anything to do with solids until 6.5 months. But then my pediatrician reminded me that these two boys are very different and Gabe might gobble food at 4 months. She wants me to try cereal at 4 months because he spits up a lot. Not so much that she would suspect reflux, but a considerable amount. So i may try it soon to settle his stomach if he wants it, and hopefully keep more milk in his tummy so my skinny mini can pack on some lbs. sorry, really long answer to say "I'm not sure." :D

Mine will be 5 months on the 22nd and I also got the green light at 4 month appointment. Right now I'll play it by ear. When DS was 4.5 months we did cereal. Even though this one is that age now I'm not getting the same feeling that she's ready. But like Kate said, I could change my mind tomorrow

I agree Rice cereal is very constipating. But baby oatmeal! Oh boy, oatmeal is like a laxative! If any of the foods seem to be tough for your LO to digest, just give LO oatmeal in the mornings and literally 1 hour later you will get that much needed poop!

  • Thanks for the links @KateMW‌ . Our dr told us this on Thursday and I haven't had a chance to look into it yet. We're not quite ready for food yet but I figured since everyone was talking about it I'd ask your opinions as well.
