Breastfeeding

one side vs two?

LO is just about 10 weeks now and i've been feeding on just one side since bringing him home due to oversupply issues. now that his feedings are getting longer apart (3-4 hours during the day, one 6-7 hour at night) i'm finding that i get full and uncomfortable more often. i'm not pumping due to not having room to store and not really needing to since i'm not returning to work. i'm wondering if there is something(s) i can do to keep this from happening besides pumping? switch to 2 sided feedings? or if my breasts will just get used to it?

Re: one side vs two?

  • You will get used to it. If your oversupply issue is under control, it should be fine to offer the other side. You can also pump a little to have an emergency stash- I have enough frozen for 5-6 bottles. It takes very little space.

You can also hand express just a little milk to relieve the fullness.
