Baby Boy Baptism Ideas

We finally picked a date to baptize our son in May. I am so excited to plan this family day. I don't have a family outfit and don't plan on buying an expensive gown for him, it's not really our style to do so, so I am planning on buying him either a cute little suit or nice plans, shirt, tie kinda deal. Wondering if there are any other suggestions from moms who have gone through this process already. We are doing a private service on a Friday night with close family and then having them for a late supper and cake afterwards. Is there anything else I am missing? Also I am thinking of buying LO a piece of jewellery or something sentimental but now 100% sure what yet as I don't want it to be too girlie and wondering if anyone has suggestions or this topic as well.

  • @bkrudd‌ I really like the idea of a blessing! I'm going to look into this.

  • Assuming that you are Catholic as I write this...

I have seen baptism outfits at buy buy baby and I don't think they were very expensive. There were gowns, plain and girly, and there were also little white suits for boys. We used a family gown, but you may want to check out buy buy baby for a white outfit.

As far as a sentimental gift, I got our baby girl two medals with the saints of her name and brought them for the deacon to bless. Her name is Annaclaire and I picked up Ss. Anne and Clare. She wasn't named after them per se, but they share a name! My MIL also bought her a beautiful crucifix that was blessed as well and now hangs in her nursery. You could get him a Bible (children's or adult's) and have his name put on the front.

We didn't do anything for her godparents, but a simple picture frame would be nice. I've seen some at kohls that say I <3 my godparents or something like that. And I always recommend catholiccompany.com for any special gifts for such an occasion!
  • I bought a white cable Knit outfit off zulily. Hope it arrives in time ...

LO wore this outfit this christening outfit that I found on on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/174844516/personalized-light-blue-seersucker?ref=sr_gallery_42&ga_search_query=boys+baptism+outfit&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery I wanted him to wear something that was a little bit more fun...not so traditional...plus I really hate those white satin suit outfits that he probably would've sweat a ton in on the day of his christening. I think your plan for dinner and cake with close family sounds great I don't think you need to do anything more. We did get small gifts for the godparents. A nice picture frame and a coffee mug for the god father and a bracelet that said godmother for his godmother.

  • Thank you for all of the suggestions! I'm for sure going to do the photo frame idea for the godparents and am heading to the city tomorrow so going to check out target and superstore for an outfit first and if I can't find anything there I'll order from Etsy or somewhere online!

DS1 wore and DS2 will wear this:

I can't remember if we did godparent gifts with DS1, but I should get on that for DS2. Maybe a personalized frame from Things Remembered.
