Mommy and me classes?

Has anyone attended any mommy and me classes yet? I'm joining one with a friend for babies under 9months. LO is not very active yet and I'm just wondering what these types of classes are like. I can't imagine there are a ton of things to do with a 10 week old, but I'm going more for the social interaction with other mommies.

We go to lapsit at the library and it's 100% for me. DS has slept through it 3 times lol. But I've met other moms!

I go to a few. Most of them DS sleeps through, but others he is awake. We sing songs with them, and move their little legs if they are awake. Mainly I meet other moms.

My mom is the library director at a library nearby so we have been going to Baby Lapsit since not long after DD was born. At first she slept through it but now she smiles and coos when I sing to her and she stares at the reader while she reads the big colorful picture books they use. I think it's been great for both of us - getting to know some mommies close by has been lovely! I'm sure your class will involve some singing and that is definitely my LO's favorite part!!

We've done a couple things... we've been going to a breastfeeding support group, but it's really more like a baby and mom gathering. The babies all "play" with each other, while the mom's talk about whatever's going on that week. Just today we started Baby Rhyme Time at the library too - she didn't seem to quite get it, but she was happy hearing my voice sing to her, so that was good! I agree with the pp's - it's mostly just an opportunity to get out of the house, and meet other people!

I just went to my first baby play group today. It was so fun, and great to connect with other moms. The group was for newborns through crawlers, and we used various objects to engage the babies. I will definitely be going back next week.

My friend and I are gonna start a walking group for moms. We are gonna do the first walk tomorrow morning and discuss plans and meeting spots. I believe mommy and me class are so beneficial to you and baby. You get the social interaction & support from being with other moms and your baby benefits with a happy mom and social interaction with other babies.

I started going with DS when he was 3 mo old and met some of my closest friends at the play groups and whine n dine lunches...I don't live near family and my friends are an hour away at the least (some also work)...I worked in another state from where I live, so my old coworkers are an hour away and still work at my previous job, so I literally had no one around me and I was getting depressed. I bit the bullet and took my friend's advice and joined meetup groups. Life saving!
