Baby gift ideas?

I feel like this gets brought up all the time, sorry. I have 4 friends that are due in the next month. 2 of them are 2nd children, so no baby showers. The other two had showers but they were intimate and I was not invited. One of them had her baby yesterday at 34 weeks. I was originally thinking of getting them baby blankets with their babies names on them, but then I thought that might be too personal. Then I was thinking a GC to a local restaurant that does take out for mom and dad with an outfit for baby, but the ones that had showers probably have SO many clothes. So then I was thinking of just grabbing a box of diapers with the GC, but that seems too impersonal? None of them know each other so I can potentially get them all the same thing, but I don't have to, it just might make things easier on me haha. Any other gift ideas?

For the last few showers I've gone to that were just friends (not family) I've done diapers and a GC to Target (since you go there a million times the first few months...) along with a couple sleepers since that's all Nancy lived in for the first 2 months of her life.

How about a cute outfit or pjs in a slightly larger size since many people buy the tiny sizes? I like the idea of the takeout gift card for mom and dad.

Sleep sacks are always really useful. Babylegs! I also like the carry out idea. I always like to take a freezer meal when I go visit a new baby.

I'm nervous to do a freezer meal because of some of the diet restrictions. That's why I figured I would do the take out gift card. The 34 weeker seems to be doing well. Moms water broke 2 weeks ago, so they knew he was coming early and were prepared as they could be. She uploaded a picture of the two of them doing skin to skin this morning. Looks like he is on oxygen through a nasal cannula and has an IV of antibiotics, but he was born at 5.5 pounds!

When we had DS we received a ton of NB and 1's we never used them all. We only had 1 box of 2's. So I say go with size 2.

Yup, I always buy 1s if they're over 8lbs. Nancy was only 7lbs and I had no NB diapers...I was so thankful my SIL brought me a mega box of NB diapers that lasted us around 3 weeks. I loved the Pampers in the beginning. When she was around 2mo I switched to the Target brand, but in the beginning I loved the little blue indicator line. :-)

For the 34 weeker, you can do a couple soft preemie outfits. I didn't get any preemie sizes at my shower.

I always get Apple Tree Boutique bibs because they are awesome bibs and not something my IRL friends have ever had. People always compliment on how great they are. You can do a cute bib or two along with a gift card to Target.

Holly, I think we know the same people.

I went to elementary school with the dad. I saw the LO photos on FB.

I usually get a variety of little things that we found useful, including Sock Ons since they are unusual, an Oball, a swaddle sack. If it's a close friend, ERy "writes" a note to the baby about how much he hopes he will loves these things.

@MarisaKathleen the target diapers now have the indacator strip on the little sizes...

I would vote against a preemie outfit. Connor was born at 6lb 2 oz and was under 6 when he came home. I never needed anything under NB and he wore that size for over a month! I'd vote for a NB outfit or sleepers if they don't have many.
