When I went in at 5 weeks, the U/S showed two gestational sacs but nothing else
This week at 6 weeks, we saw two yolk sacs, but only one had a heartbeat so far.
I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this and still had twins.
U/S said it's not uncommon for one to be a little behind, but also mentioned that it could also mean that one twin could be absorbed.
We should know more by next week. I assume if there is not heartbeat next week, it's not going to happen, right?
When did everyone see heartbeats by?
UPDATE:
I am 8 weeks today and we only saw one heartbeat, so it looks like Embie #2 did not progress pass the yolk sak. We are still very happy and pleases as number one is doing well so far!

Re: Did you see both heartbeats at the same time? UPDATE

BFP#3: 2/3/14, EDD 10/15/14, fraternal TWINS confirmed 2/21/14, two BOYS confirmed on 4/15/14!
I had an ultrasound around 5 weeks and saw 2 gestational sacs. Next ultrasound shortly after 6wks showed only one heartbeat. The doctor warned us that things could go either way with Baby B. But sure enough, at the next ultrasound just past 7 weeks there were 2 beautiful heartbeats!
6ish weeks is still early for a heartbeat- it's great if you see one, but if you don't it doesn't mean it won't happen. If there's still no heartbeat by 7 weeks, that would be more concerning.
I hope your next ultrasound goes well. Good luck!

I had my first scan at 7.5 weeks with just one heartbeat and one yolk visible. They said it looked like the second embie "didn't go anywhere".
Second scan at 10.5 weeks showed two little ones with almost identical measurements.
I don't want to give false hope, but my first scan was close in timing to your second. Might be worth asking about another scan in a couple weeks.
