One lonely follie

My final monitoring before IUI was this morning. It looks like we are only going to have one good follie after all. I'm not gonna lie.... I wanna scream WTF???? to my body. When we went on Wednesday there were four total that looked good. Since Wednesday, the other three have barely grown. I told a friend that I feel like this is our Hail Mary and the odds don't seem to be in our favor.

I'm trying to be on the positive side, but it honestly is hard right this second. C and I are exhausted from our early morning trips, so that doesn't help. As long as my blood work comes back looking good, I will trigger tonight and then our IUI is Sunday at 9:30. I'm going to start Endometrin on Monday and then we just wait. Either way, we will get a break from cycling. Either I will be pregnant or we are moving to IVF. Our office has a requirement of 3 months on BC pills before stimming, etc.

This whole process just plain old sucks.

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013. 

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good. 

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

    I totally feel you on being let down a cycle by stubborn ovaries.  Like PP said, hopefully that is one perfect and beautiful egg!  FX for you this cycle.  

    And 3 months of BCPs?  Why so long?  That's annoying...but at the same time, it can be a nice break.  I'm going to have to get on BCPs again next month before trying for IVF again, and I know I will mentally need a break.


    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)

    I'm so sorry.  That is disapointing.  On the positive side, it does only take one follicule to get pregnant, which is what most women deal with month to month.  I wish you the best!

    I didn't know that you have to be on BCPs for 3 months before trying IVF.  Is this true for all patients?
    Me:30 (anovulatory and mild endometriosis)   DH: 33 No issues
    Married 7/15/12
    Began TTC 3/2013
    First appointment with RE 7/2013
    8/2013 benched w/ cyst
    9/2013 100mg clomid w/ menopur/cancelled due to 15+ foll.
    10/2013 25 mg. clomid w/trigger shot/2 foll. canceled IUI
    11/2013 benched w/cyst
    12/2013 25 mg. clomid w/trigger shot and IUI 3 foll. BFN
    1/2014 25 mg. clomid w/ trigger shot and IUI 2 foll. BFN
    2/2014 took off-too emotionally drained
    3/2014 25 mg. clomid w/ trigger shot and IUI 2 foll. BFN
    4/2014 injectibles w/ trigger and prog. inserts  2 foll. BFP!!!

    I know you're disappointed, but one lonely follie is better than no follies.  Wishing you the best of luck for your IUI. 
    Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
    RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
    IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

    Sorry about the lone follie. Our bodies can be so frustrating

    4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
    All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

    All AL are welcome

    Argh, sorry :( That must've been really disappointing.  I know I'd be disappointed.  I'll echo what others said, it just takes one!  But if this cycle is a bust then perhaps IVF will yield better results for you.  This whole process is so difficult.

    FX this will be it for you and that you have a wonderful BFP!

    @Sami14vb‌ - That is the protocol at our RE's office. I have heard that one month is standard for most offices.

    @gsancho‌ - I'm not sure why they do 3 months. Hopefully I won't have to find out. Truthfully, C and I could probably use a break for a bit, so it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. I imagine my body might need a break as well.
