Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Nerve Damage + Rant...

So this sucks. A few nights ago I started experiencing sharp, shooting pains in my back and what felt like my kidneys, intestines and bladder. I thought it might have something to do with my D&C which I had on Monday. The next day at work the pain started getting worse, to the point where I could hardly move. I thought it could have something to do with my D&C so I called the hospital where it was performed and they told me to go straight to my doctor. My doctor wasn't quite sure what was going on so had me admitted to the hospital again. After a blood test, urine test and an internal exam by a gynaecologist (which hurt like a MFer!) and 3 hours of waiting in the waiting room they told me that it looked like I have some nerve damage possibly caused by my surgery. All they could do was give me pain killers and tell me to go home and lie down. Now I'm sitting at home once more. This is the 9th day I've had off work because of my miscarriage. I just want to scream ~X( not because I'm not at work but because I am so over this whole thing. I just want life to go back to normal. I thought I was fine but the past few nights I have cried myself to sleep thinking "why me?!" and just wishing I was still pregnant. This is such a roller coaster I'm on and I hate it. To top if off it looked as though my bleeding had stopped but today it's suddenly picked up again. Anyway sorry for my rant but I'm sure you ladies can relate.

Re: Nerve Damage + Rant...

  • Wow. That really sucks. I'm sorry. I hope it's nothing permanent! Do you have any sort of follow up planned to determine the degree of damage?

@EllyD14 - They said it should go away on it's own in a few days, if not I need to go back. None of the doctors seemed particularly worried and assured me it's nothing serious. I hope they're right.

  • That's just crap. I can fully relate to you wanting things to go back to normal. It just sucks when you start to feel 1% better and then bang another thing.

But trust me things will slowly get normal it may not feel like it now and it may take a while but your body will start to heal and you can go back to your life in that aspect.

Sending you big hugs and kisses

  • Did they examine your lumbar disks? It could be possible that either the position you were in during d&c or something else aggravated a malposition. If they are aggravated, you may experience nerve pain.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • Oh honey I can relate. Not with the nerve damage thing, that seems much worse but I will tell you I had a slew of bad luck after my D&C that seemed to never end.

First I had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia and I could hardly walk the next day. Every muscle in my body was horribly painful to move. I couldn't even pick my head up off a pillow without crying!

Then 3 days later I got THE worst food poisoning. I couldn't keep anything in. I couldn't even get out of bed I was so nauseous.

I too cried myself to sleep every night, why me? And wasn't the miscarriage bad enough? Why does the shitty have to continue? I don't deserve this. I thought it all. And I was mad at the world. Those were my darkest days. My worst moments.

I promise you it will get better and you are stronger than you think you are.

    Hang in there!
  • I am so so sorry you are going through this. I am glad that they think it will resolve itself shortly.

Thank you ladies for your answers :) Fortunately I'm feeling a lot better now. The pain has gotten way less intense so I'm guessing they were right, it will go away on it's own. @Maxsmommy123112 - Omg that sounds awful you poor thing! I'm glad you're doing ok now.
