Re: GTKY 4/11 Edition

  • 1. My 5 things:
    - Phone (I have a Windows Nokia 920 and love it)
    - Lip Balm (ok, this has a horrible name but I LOVE it - Chicken Poop Lip Junk!)
    - Locctaine Shea Butter Hand Cream (original) I have these everywhere!
    - Sunglasses (yes, in Seattle you do need them all year - if that sun comes out it hurts!)
    - Hair ties

    2. Nearby we love to drive up to Whidbey Island - it's 1 hour from Seattle but a different world. For flyaway, Maui for sure!!! But if we want to 'travel' vs. 'vacation,' then I really love France and Italy.

    3. My work office has art on the walls, a shelf of Japanese blind box toys, and is lit with lamps and never those horrid flourescents! It feels a little dark but I like the soft light.

    4. I like this Strawberry vanilla cake from Simply Desserts in my neighborhood - it's like a strawberry shortcake cake, in a way, perfect for an early summer birthday! Here's a link to an online pic of it. I love chocolate cake, but this is a worthy exception.

    5. Ug! This weekend is all about getting ready for vacation to Maui (packing, bikini wax, toes done, bang trim, etc). We are giving our chickens away this weekend too :( - it's the right thing but we are sad about the one in particular who is like a pet. She comes when she's called, squats down and loves to be picked up. Last, my next door neighbor told me she's 13w pregnant! I'm dragging her to prenatal yoga on Saturday (she's been sick, and feels like a blob for not going running - so I said to come and she'd feel like she did something...she nodded in agreement and her husband gave me a secret 'thumbs up' behind her :) ). Then on Sunday there is a special yoga class for "Healthy hips and back in pregnancy" that I'm going to go to. Can't hurt!

  • I have been gone for some time so what a way to get back into the swing!

    1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!
I am never without my cell phone, dental floss, tissues/napkins, gum, and my iPod.
    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why? I love vacationing in the Florida Keys.  My in-laws, myself and my wife, and about 5-6 friends go down every year for mini-lobster season (except this year b/c my SIL is due right when season starts and I will be 7 months along with twins so it is not happening-first time in over 10 years BOO). We camp (well, glamp b/c we all have RVs and campers) right on the water and it is AH-MAY-ZING! The other two are anywhere where we can go and relax. We go stay at a "camping" location called sun-n-fun in Sarasota and it is always a good time.  I LOVE GOING ON CRUISES!!!!
    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like. I have two offices at work. One is stacked full of  secure testing materials (I work in a school-one of my responsibilities is the planning, organizing, implementing, and security of all testing) and the other is a hodge-podge of administrative paperwork, picture frames, and calendars to keep up with the bagillion things we have going on
    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday? I LOVE FUNFETTI CUPCAKES WITH CREAM CHEESE ICING!!!! MMMMMMM.
    5. What's up for the weekend!?! I am not really sure. Tomorrow-probably laundry and DW is going to do yardwork. Sunday- going to check out a church and then probably hanging out by the pool

  • Hello!

    1. Lancome Nutrix Royal Hands Hand Cream, my phone, lipstick, my band card (not always my purse) and my Ipod Nano.
    2.  Some I drive to: Durness. We go every year, right on the very north coast of Scotland, and is gorgeous (and normally freezing). Its about a 5 hour drive, if you go straight up, on some of the most horrible roads I've ever been on, but it's worth it. Somewhere I have to fly: Elba. It's a tiny island just off the Tuscan coast of Italy and it's stunning. Plus, it's always warm! But I also love all the Norse capital cities.
    3. I am a community midwife (though I also do cover work in the local hospital) so I do a lot of home visits. I also have a little office in the local GP surgery. It looks like it hasn't been decorated since the 1970s, is almost always too hot or far too cold, and covered in photographs of the family of the midwife that also works there. I put a picture of me and Laire on my 'side' of the desk (it's actually just my desk, she has her own), and she took it down because apparently it made some of her patients feel awkward. I kind of hate working in there, and have taken to using one of the nurses rooms when I need to see a patient.
    4. Red velvet cake!
    5. We're off to see Laire's sister's family in Sweden! We fly out tonight.
  • The edit function won't let me add a PIP, but here is my blind box toy shelf at work!

  • @shelly2314 What is Funfetti? I've seen people talk about in on these boards before but I've never ever even heard of it. Is it an American thing?
  • I think so. It is like a vanilla cake with sprinkles baked in and they melt to look like confetti. It is so freaking good.  I think I might have to go buy some and make some for the weekend!  LOL

LaireAndLia....if you send me your address I will mail you some for you to try.....if you would like!

    1. My iPhone and burts bees lip balm (I have a psychosomatic response of chapped lips only if I don't have it on me). I can't think of 3 others... probably my wallet, keys, and sunglasses (somehow its always the sunniest day of the year with tons of glare the one day I forget them at home).

    2. We go to Cape Cod every summer. Except this upcoming one when we will instead be birthing some babies. My in-laws have a house there and we love the entire Cape, but especially Provincetown (of course) and Martha's Vineyard. Can't wait to dress up our boys all preppy for their first summer on the Cape next year. Their nursery will even have a Cape Cod/New England theme. Locally we like San Diego for day trips or weekends away. Perfect home away from home since my dad lives there..

    3. I think I got lucky with my office. I think its one of the better ones in our building, but I might be the only one who thinks that. Others in this building are much bigger, like with room for couches and meeting tables, but mine has one wall of north-facing windows (so I never have had to turn on a light and its always well lit, not a dark cave like the offices across the hall from me) and I can look out on a huge un-usable deck (and I do have a sliding glass door to go out there, but I'm not supposed to) and my view is of a steep green hill dotted with houses. I have art I brought from home on the walls and all over my desk. I also work with students (not in my office, in separate testing rooms) so my testing materials fill the shelves- most of which is colorful puzzles and pictures.

    4. I love home made carrot cake on my birthday.

    5. San Diego is happening this weekend. My sister and a close friend of ours both live in north San Diego county and we will go spend some time with them and enjoy the beach in Del Mar with our dogs.

    A & K, married 7/1/13.

After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.

  • 1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!
I usually have my phone with me
    chapstick
    hair tie
    gum

That's about it really with the exception of keys and wallet

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?
Close: We do a lot of camping and backpacking in either the San Rafael Swell or Escalante.

Farther: San Diego is my go to quick vacation spot, just a quick 8 hour drive

Flying: I don't like to go to the same place twice, next trip is either Hawaii, Fiji, or New Zealand. Favorite so far was probably South Africa.

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.
I just moved offices a few weeks ago. It's still not quite what I'd like, but not my biggest priority right now. I have a bunch of cardboard boxes of clothing donations hanging out, a huge comfy chair no one else wanted and two of my paintings on the walls.

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?
Pumpkin pie, every time. My fav

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!
I probably sound like a broken record, but our plans keep changing. J's family is coming to help us do some yard work, stain the fence, til the garden and part of the yard, lay sod, prime the walls in Bubbles' room. I'm mostly going to be working on the mural after the walls get primed. Family homo evening is tonight, I don't know if we are going or not though, depends on how we feel after work I guess. Friday nights are so hard to be social. We are both exhausted by the end of the week and just want to take it easy.

BONUS: PIP us something related to one of the above; or, anything really. Everyone loves a PIP!
One of my paintings in my office. I talked one of my professors into letting me do a painting instead of a paper during grad school. Not by best work, but I get a lot of comments on it.

    1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!

    • My phone
    • Lip gloss
    • A bottle of water
    • My watch
    • My Wedding rings

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?

    • Marseille, France - My wife and I took a European cruise for our honeymoon, and Marseille was my favorite port. We explored quaint small french towns and toured the coast - it was beautiful and reminded me of a picture book. We were only there for a day, but I would love to go back at some point and spend more time. It is one of the best places I have ever visited.
    • The Bahamas - This was the first official vacation that my wife and I took together just the two of us. It was awesome. This is one of very few vacations that I can look back on and say that I was truly relaxed. I just remember being so sad to leave, but so glad that we went. It would definitely make the highlight reel of our time together.
    • Myrtle Beach - So, I have never actually been there. HA - so why am i listing it? Well, my in-laws just bought a condo there, with the plan that it will become the family "beach house" and we will all spend many holidays and vacations there together. I am SO excited! I am already thinking about baby girl's first trip there and her first experience at the beach and in the ocean. I can envision our kids playing with their aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents there for years to come. My father-in-law is working to renovate the condo right now, and keeps showing us pictures. I can't wait to visit in person!

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.

We renovated our office about 2 years ago (man was that a project and giant pain in the rear!)... prior to the renovation I had a large office that I shared with two other people. Post renovation, we have moved to an "open workspace environment" where only our Executive Management (CEO, VPs) have actual offices, and everyone else has a cubicle. At first I hated it, because even though I shared, I had private space with a door in my previous office. However, it has been 2 years and I am used to it now. My cubicle is also very, very large and located across from a conference room where I can quickly duck in to make a call or have a confidential discussion. And honestly, my day is made up mainly of meetings, so I am away from my desk about 75% of the time on any given day (most of the time).

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?

Classic grocery store bakery birthday cake! White cake with vanilla icing, please! With a scoop of ice cream on the side. So simple, but has always been a favorite of mine :)

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!

Tonight we are meeting my mother-in-law for a quick dinner and then going to the mall to walk around and do some baby/nursery shopping. My wife wants to get some more nursery decor things, and my mother-in-law wants to help. I am not supposed to be involved, as the nursery is still largely a surprise to me, but I plan to walk around the mall and perhaps check out nursing bras - exciting! HAHA

The rest of the weekend my wife is working on the nursery and playroom and hopefully starting to get some thing "finished" (dare I say!)... I have a long list of to-do things that range from going to the bank and grocery shopping, to trying to paint my toes (HA - should be interesting), to writing some thank you notes for gifts we have already started receiving. So I will chip away at my list at my own pace, and help my wife if she needs it. I looking forward to not getting out of bed before the sun comes up and having a decent amount of couch time as well :)

BONUS PIP: This is my wife and I on our honeymoon on the tour bus in France :)

    Me - 30, My wife - 31 , Together for 10 yrs - Married August 2012

    5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN

    Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer!      *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581   *********William George born June 4, 2014*********
  • 1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.)
    -iPhone (5c)
-Burts Bees lip gloss (w/ tint)
    -Sunglasses
    -Wallet
-Extra Diaper & change of clothes for Kaden

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?
-We love Santa Cruz, CA for day trips (beaches, boardwalk, etc.)
-Day trips also to Sonoma/Marin coast, Napa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, etc. (love the little shops, restaurants, the beautiful landscape).  I also love street fairs, etc. in the Spring and Summer
-Roatan, Honduras in the Caribbean for longer vacations (we love the beaches, and the people.  It's such a beautiful island. We've travelled throughout the Caribbean and Central American and Roatan is definitely one of our favorite places.  Our house is rented now for 6 -12 months so its likely if we visit in 2014 that we'll be staying in a hotel, hopefully near the beach!)  :-)
-We also really liked Fuji and have wanted to go back.  But likely we'd try something new (since exploring is the best ;-)

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.

7:00am (ish) Kaden wakes up, we putter around upstairs while I shower and get ready. Recently he has wanted to jump in the shower with me and splash around which is so cute (its a large stone shower so luckily there is room and a flat bottom).
7:45am - breakfast for Kaden and I pack EV's breakfast and lunch for the day
8:00am - 11:30am - Put away dishes from night before, eat breakfast, do dishes, sweep, mop, do laundry. Let Kaden play outside or inside. Bump. Start prepping dinner. Give Kaden a snack. Read a few books together. Maybe a project around the house (like cleaning out fridge, garage organization, putting newborn stuff together). Various diaper and outfit changes for Kaden, 1x - 2x a week do a deeper clean of bathrooms, vacuum, dust, etc., Work on personal business while Kaden plays (i.e. pay bills, send emails, taxes, etc.)
11:30am - Kaden eats lunch, usually something warm (I might eat lunch with him, or later)
    12:00pm - 2:00pm - Kaden naps, I do homework, drink tea
2:00pm - 4:30pm - run errands (grocery shopping, etc.), go to the park, finish laundry and put it away, finish, or heat dinner
5:00pm - EV comes home (Kaden goes crazy - he just adores her :-)
    5:30pm - Dinner
6:00pm - 7:00pm - Family hangout time (Clean up dinner dishes)
7:00pm - Bath and bedtime prep
    7:30pm - Bedtime
    7:30pm - 11:00pm - homework, EV and I talk, ocassionally watch a show

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?

Today German Chocolate cake...yummmm.  And Ice Cream

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!
I actually need to rush and change for our lunch Baby Shower with EV's co-workers.  Kaden is coming along and I need to leave in 20 minutes!!! Whoops
Later tonight homework and hopefully getting to sleep early
Saturday - I'll work in SF doing my driving gig :-)
Sunday - homework and maybe the gym (I haven't been in a couple of weeks).  If its warm out maybe we can take Kaden swimming.

Have a great weekend everyone!!! :-)

  • 1. iPhone always. The rest I try to, but sometimes forget - water, a fabric bag that folds up and I can keep in my purse (bag ban in Austin), burp cloths!, and sunglasses

    2. For nearby travel, we like to stay at a B&B and visit the wineries in Fredericksburg, TX. Or sometimes we just spend a night at one of the lake resorts in Austin.

For flyaway travel, I have places on my wishlist, but as for places I have been to that I love to return to - NYC without a doubt.

    3. I work for the state. My building is old, gross, and germ infested. Yech. Cube city w/ florescent lights. Grey cabinets, grey (and filthy) carpets. But, I have a corner window cube with a nice view of DT Austin in the distance.

    4. Anything from my fave vegan bakery, Capital City Bakery. The owner is a magician. I love her chocolate cake with raspberry filling or her cookies and cream cheesecake.

    5. Sister in town!!! And home study visit!

    1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!

    • The requisite phone
    • Beverage container (water or coffee)
    • Sunglasses (these are like second skin in Hawaii and curse the day you forget them as you drive across the island).
    • Baby stuff some kind of bag stuffed with various cloth diapers, clothes, snacks, bevies.
    • Stupid ear buds.  I am always losing and finding these, and they are a main thing I try to grab on my way out the door. Good at the gym, for making phone calls while driving, etc.  But I lose them a lot.
    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?

This is going to sound silly, but I'm kind of over vacations right now.  Mostly, I want to stay home.  I am supremely graced to live in a vacation destination, so maybe that counts.  Other than that, I just want to go visit my family whom I miss terribly.  They are in Cali, Bainbridge Is, and Vancouver, CAN.

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.
I'm a housemom now, but I'm calling it "sabbatical."
4:30-5:30 Get up, sneak around trying to have five darn minutes to myself.  This never works.  The dogs hear me and scramble and jingle all over the house.
    4:30-6:00 Baby wakes
    6:00 Big kid up
6:15 or so DW is up

7:00 am Big Kid bikes to school and DW leaves for work

I walk the dogs and baby from 7:30 to about 8:15. I try to get to the YMCA for an hour in the mornings.  Baby and I play/work outside in the morning.  I internet, clean up from brekkie, clean the house, etc. Lunch around 11:30.  Hopefully a baby nap.  At this point I try to indulge in either the Colbert Report or some other Netflix thing.  This only happens about one day a week. Why?! Why?!  I can't say.  I wash and fold cloth diapers every two days.  I do laundry.  I put away the baby's toys for the 23rd time this week.  I put away DW's shoes for the 23rd time this week.  I put away my pajamas for the 23rd time this week.

Big Kid gets home between 2:30 and 4pm, depending on the day.  We talk and I start putzing on dinner.
6:30-7pm  DW gets home and we eat.
Bedtime routine starts, all kids in bed by 8pm.
8:15 to whenever I can stay awake is Grown Up time.  This usually involves watching Modern Family, House of Cards, Homeland, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, etc.  I am terrible and falling asleep these days.

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?
I always and only want my grandmother's pound cake, in a German tube-shaped springform with homemade vanilla ice cream.  It is my dream.  Thankfully my DW learned the recipe from my aunt, so it is a possible dream.  I have the pans and it is a wonderful thing.
    5. What's up for the weekend!?!
I am teaching sex education on both days to 7-9th graders.  Plus we have a baby shower for a friend having twins.  Should be good.

BONUS: PIP us something related to one of the above; or, anything really. Everyone loves a PIP!

Here is a flashback to 2009.  Big Kid had a fantastic fashion sense.  I did not let her go out with the bare midriff.  But dang-o she was cute.

Oahu. Not Maui. :)  But Maui is a pretty rad place to vacation.  DW and I went there on a vacation a couple years ago when we first got together.  It was super fun.  Haleakala is so, so stunning--I hope you are going!

Edit to add: I did not take this picture!  I'm not pulling a Kardashian. :)

  • @cagemack - I think this is our 5th time there? We did the sunrise at Haleakala the first trip and it was worth it for sure! It is such a great island. The only one we haven't done is Oahu!!! Next time!

  • 1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!

     - My iPhone with rainbow case :)

     - Carmex lip balm

     - a lenses cleaner for my glasses

     - lotion, which I habitually use after every time I wash my hands

     - tissues

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?

      1.  California.  We spent a whirlwind week there last May and I loved it.  I want to go back and visit the Avenue of the Giants again as we literally drove threw and stopped only twice due to time contraints.

     2.  Florida.  We just went in March and also enjoyed the entire trip.  C has friends down there, which are now my friends as well.  I was so sad to leave them.  We are hoping to go back every year if we can.

    3.  Maine.  I went once with my parents, years ago.  I would love to go whale watching again and also moose watching!

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.

I work in a small office inside of a larger building.  We have cubes, so privacy is non-existent!  I have a few plants and some pictures of C and I.  I also have a tie-dye sarong hanging up that I got in Mexico and some inspirational postcards and poster that I bought from the Holocaust Museum.  On my chair I have an afghan that a very close friend made for us for a wedding present.

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?

My birthday is in just under two weeks now!  Honestly, I would love a twix icecream cake!  I saw one in a store a few months back and told C that it was what I wanted.  I love twix icecream bars.  If they didn't exist, then cheesecake would be the winner.

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!

As usual, we have a packed weekend.  I'm triggering tonight at 9:30 and will then have my IUI on Sunday at 9:30 am.  Tomorrow we are going to a semi-local seasonal restaurant for pancakes and maple syrup that is made right there.  Then we're riding the bike, possibly going to a home show and we have our last night of bowling for the season.  Sunday we'll have our IUI, then plan to ride the bike all afternoon as long as all goes well with the IUI.

I tried for Bonus PIPs, but we have reached our usage limit on our internet and it seems like I won't be able to get them to upload.  If I remember, I will put them up for Thursday next week.  We'll be on a new billing cycle then!

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

    1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!

Cell phone, pants, water bottle, wallet... I can't really think of anything else...

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?

Hocking Hills, OH- beautiful hiking and cabins. So peaceful!

The Beach- any beach with sand, waves, nice people and seafood.

Europe- I know this is broad, but I met a lot of international staff members at camp and I miss a great deal of them very much.

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.

My office is very large, has lots of trees, a pond, a pool and a full vegetable garden. Working at camp definitely has it's perks.

<4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?

I am a bit of a cupcake/cake connoisseur... This question changes daily. We had 5 different flavors of cupcakes for our wedding... And choosing them was really hard for me :)

My favorite homemade cake is marble cake with double fudge icing.

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!

I have a huge workday tomorrow where we will be planting over 100 plants in or butterfly garden... Then I am off on Sunday and can't wait to spend the first full day with my love since we found out we were pregnant, when one or both of us is not working! I think Sunday will probably involve brunch, naps and snuggles. Can't wait!

BONUS: PIP us something related to one of the above; or, anything really. Everyone loves a PIP!

You make me look so bad!  I am lucky if I shower before my wife gets home at 4pm, cleaning never gets done let alone school work!  You are my hero!!!  :-)
LOL - check back with me in 2 weeks when I have 2 babies. When Kaden was a newborn I didn't shower until... (well sometimes it was only several times a week!! Haha).  I'm sure my schedule will look very different soon.  But I'm ok with that. :-)  You're MY hero for juggling 2 kids and being pregnant! ;-)

  • I'm late.  Friday and Saturday were busy so I am just getting to this now!

    1. What are 5 things you are never without? (phone, gum, lotion, etc.) If you have a brand of something you love, tell us too!

Phone, lip balm, sunglasses (unless it's rainy, but I do wear them if it's sunny or bright in the winter), and wallet.  That's probably it.

    2. Where are your top 1-3 vacation destinations? Maybe something you can drive to (regional) and something you have to fly to...and why?

My family has been spending time in Maine (the lakes region) since I was a kid, and my dad now owns a summer home there, so that's our easy-drive (and free) vacation.  The house is down a long dirt road on a pond, and it's relaxing and peaceful.  As for flying, I guess it depends on how much money I have to burn!  For a shorter flight/cheaper, we really loved Charleston -- nice combination of beaches, history, and great food.  For a longer flight/more expensive, we loved Hawaii and would go back to Maui or Kauai in a heartbeat if we had the money...but it is SO far from Boston.  Alternatively, somewhere in Europe.  My wife and I have never been together and I'd love to go just about anywhere with her.

    3. If you work outside the home, describe your office/workspace. If you're a SAHM, tell us what your daily schedule looks like.

I work on the 26th floor of a 30-story building in Boston's Financial District.  I'm a librarian, so I do have a shared office with my co-worker but spend most of my time out at the Reference Desk fielding requests.  The office itself is pretty corporate, but relatively comfortable.

    4. What kind of cake/dessert do you like to have on your birthday?

I love cheesecake/cream cheese frosting, brownies, and caramel.  So my ultimate is this cheescake; my sister also makes caramel sauce to drizzle on top (cause it's my birthday!).  She also made me a buttermilk cake with caramel cream cheese frosting once that was pretty amazing, and my old standby is Nigella Lawson's chocolate Guinness cake.  OR a really good brownie sundae (with caramel instead of hot fudge, natch) would do the trick if no one feels like baking.  :)

    5. What's up for the weekend!?!

My wife had a rare Friday night off, so we went out to dinner with a friend.  Yesterday we deep-cleaned our entire first floor and it looks GREAT.  Tired but accomplished!  Also did a big BJ's run.  Glamorous.  I went to yoga this morning, and need to go for a walk when it stops raining and go buy groceries.  I'm also hoping to get over to the cat shelter where we got our kitty to donate two beds that she has rejected/outgrown and an old cat carrier that is too small for her.
