These songs remind me of two aspects of my youth: my naive cheerfulness (the first two) and my bittersweet longing for love (the last). I never felt like I would find my true love. I was never confident enough to talk to guys until I was 18.

Oooh, this is hard! I want to list 80s songs I actually liked _in the eighties_ when I was feeling all that tween-age longing @URMySunshine77 mentions as I pined after my junior high crushes (none of whom had the tiniest bit of interest in me). But even though I could sing bits of the songs that bring that all back, I can't remember artists/titles. So, here's the best I can do:
1. Sell My Soul, by Midnight Oil. I was a rebellious 14 year old, and I didn't want to do that, you know? Irony aside, I still love that album!
2. Pictures of You, The Cure. I was also a moody 14 year old, and listened to that whole album, in my room with the door shut, over and over.
3. Too Many Walls, Kathy Dennis. This one was a little out of character, and I was into it more in the early 90s. I liked it because it reminded me of all the _totally_ unfair obstacles between me (age 17) and my first "boyfriend" (age 22). Not that 5 years is a big age difference in the grand scheme of things, but at that age--yeah. Gross.
ETA, love Madonna from the "Cherish" era. My friends and I made up dance routines to most of those songs! :P

@Davie_813: I can't believe you chose Cathy Dennis for one of your songs! No one ever knows who I am talking about when I mention "Too many walls." It is one of my favorites! I looked her up the other day, and she has been writing songs for other singers. She wrote Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head."

I can't think of particular songs that stand out for the 80's but I will share this:
Early 80s Anything Duran Duran. It was the first band I was "in to" and I still have a major crush on Simon LeBon (swoon)
Late 80's My punk chick self was into new wave and industrial music. Had my first fake ID when I was 16 and would get into a club called Paris New York on Long Island. I only made myself 19 since I had no interest in drinking, just dancing.
@Davie813 I loved The Cure and Pictures of You is still a great song. I do find, however, that I can't listen to a full album of theirs now. It all just seems to whiny. Hahaha

Oops, looks like I spelled her name wrong, but good to find another Cathy Dennis fan!

I think it depends on the album. That particular one (Disintegration)--yes. Definitely.

Jeez not sure! Why are these questions so hard for me!!
Sunglasses at Night-Corey Hart. Met a guy at the beach and when your 16/17 I thought I was in love! This song was his song with the sunglasses. He was from NY and he actually came to stay at my house for a week. Lol. Then he stayed at my friends house when her parents were away and so did I
Tainted Love...Come on Eileen and I Touch Myself. Lots of good times with those songs No regrets on my crazy days haha
Loved Prince!!

Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months.
Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)
DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!
Caterpillar by The Cure. My older brothers loved The Cure so much, and I just have so many memories of being about 8 or 9, running around the house whilst Caterpillar played ridiculously loudly in the background whilst my parents were out.
Song to the Siren by This Mortal Coil. I didn't actually like this song until I started seeing Laire, but I loved This Mortal Coil. When I was 12 my eldest brother (who was 20) was supposed to be babysitting me, but his girlfriend got them tickets to see This Mortal Coil so he snuck me in, and that was the first song they played. It was my first gig and I loved it.
Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson. I can't even tell you why. I just remember it playing on the radio when my family went down to Cornwall one summer.
Too hard to pick, but it seems @MelissaMiso and I shared some similar tastes, even down to the early 80s crush on Simon LeBon! I definitely was into new wave and punk, but my brother was the one into industrial more than I was. I highly recommend the "1st Wave" channel on SiriusXM if you have it - lots of great gems on that

I was a NKOTB tweenie, so all their songs, especially Hanging Tough. Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth because I loved her perfume of the same name, and then I moved into my hair band phase. Unfortunately I didn't discover U2, The Cure, Duran Duran, or Billy Idol until I was way into the grunge sound.
We have to pick only 3? Whew that is tough..... "The Right Stuff" by nkotb. My sisters and I still rock out to that song on road trips. We even had my nephew rockin' out to it when he was 3-4 years old. He is 10 now. "In your eyes" by peter gabriel. I always thought that was a great love song as a kid and it was almost our first dance song at my wedding this past sept. Plus a lot of us girls wanted a guy standing outside our windows with a boom box professing his love for us Thriller by michael jackson. When i was in dance school that was our finale dance and I loved knowing the dance moves. I was also obsessed with the making of the video. I watched it over and over again.
