Monday Morning (afternoon) vents

Sorry I'm late on this - I was miserably sick this morning. Still sick, but with tylenol, I managed to get out of bed. I'm now at my desk, still miserable. I'm going to the CVS across the street to pick up whatever meds I can safely take while pregnant and then probably going home around 3 if I can. I feel like death.

Anyone else want to share?

  • Sorry you guys are sick!

We are moving in with my parents for 2-4 weeks as of this coming Saturday.  I am dreading this like the plague.  I am dreading all the packing I still have to do every night this week.  I am angry that we still don't have the closing date on our new place (though contractually it will be no later than 5/15) and generally anxious about living in limbo the next 2-4 weeks with our commutes, day to day, etc. turned upside down.  I'm just super stressed and want to wave a wand and make it June 1 with us all settled in our new house.  Being super busy at work is bonus stress to add to the mix too.

  • Thanks @PrivacyWanted, I think I'm going to head home in half an hour or so. I was really relieved to find that cough drops are okay while pregnant. My husband also really recommends the neti pot but I can't bring myself to try it out - instead I just keep steaming with either baths or the humidifier.

This is probably the worst illness I've had since dengue fever. I hope it's just the worst cold ever and not something worse.

  • I'm in DC for the day to sit on a round table discussion. The flight this morning was crowded and bumpy. The stupid fasten seat belt sign was on almost the whole flight. If there's anything more miserable than flying coach 8 months pregnant, it's flying coach 8 months pregnant when you can't get up to pee. Oh, and I'm on day 3 of some horrible neck cramp that nothing seems to help. Not heat, not cold, not massage. I need a muscle relaxer, but can't have one because I'm enormously pregnant. Argh!! And I'm so tired of being pregnant. (But note to the bun in the oven: that was not an invitation to come out early!)
  • My oldest DD has pink eye and a fever.  Not really a vent, I just feel bad for her.  And I am paranoid about the rest of the house catching it.

@K3am I think that's my worry that someone is up in arms about them wearing tank tops and shorts or something?  But it was cold (for here) and rainy last week - so hopefully they mean like weather-appropriate?
I'm going to add to my little notes that suggestions need to be clear or they can't be responded to.  But I'm seriously worried about who is thinking these girls aren't covering up properly.  And I emailed the directors to give them a heads up because it is weird, right?

Yes, I agree that it is weird.

Add me to the sickness train! But mine is somewhat tolerable for now - just this annoying cough that is really deep. I am not coughing often but when I do, it sounds like I am trying to get a lung out.

I also feel bad that I asked DH to take DS to his parent's house yesterday for a couple of hours. DS is at an age where he is climbing everywhere - one the couch, the stairs etc. and you have to watch him closely or else he could seriously hurt himself. I just needed a break from him but now I feel guilty. :(

  • I have a sinus infection, and I feel sorry for myself.

A vendor I work with frequently is being a royal pain in the ass. My usual contact is great, but her boss is being a biotch and I'm tired of dealing with it.

I made chili last night in the slow cooker, but it turned out sub-par compared to last time. I forgot to rinse the beans before dumping them in and I think that's why. Aaand this is supposed to be my lunch for the week *cries*

  • This is probably waaaay TMI, but I have to go to the dr tomorrow because my *ahem* monthly cycle is crazy.  I'm afraid to leave the house, or stand up, etc.  It's been 3 days of this.  Since having DD2 a year ago, every month has been worse than the last.  This one has been similar to the days after childbirth.  The dr wanted to see me today, but I couldn't get there in time.  So I have to go for an ultrasound to see what's happening, then meet with the dr.  This office is never, ever, ever running on time, but I love my dr, so I put up with it.  But it's going to take forever...
  • @PrivacyWanted - we get a weekly email from DD's teachers about weather appropriate clothing. Every week. The content varies based on the season but it is always about remembering a jacket, shoes for playground, etc. This week's is copied below. I am always baffled that there are that many parents who aren't aware of the weather?

Weather Appropriate Clothing: With spring here we do have some days where the weather is warmer but keep in mind when the weather is not so great we still go outside. Please make sure that your child has a warm waterproof jacket with a hood. We have had many instances where a child only has a sweatshirt in the rain and they get all wet. Also please keep in mind your child’s shoes for the weather. Sandals are great for warmer weather but not so great in the rain.J We just want to make sure everyone is safe and staying healthy! Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • Sorry everyone is sick, esp. the pregnant ladies...that sucks :(

My vent is that we are having bad weather and its supposed to get worse just in time for my commute home.  We are under a tornado watch right now and I am terrified of tornadoes.  I hope its not too bad and my crazy doesn't come out today.

  • @jf198400 have you tried any acupressure? https://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Nausea-With-Acupressure (sidenote- the 'related articles" make me laugh, at least for me it's "how to vomit while driving" "how to vomit in car")

No I'll have to look into it. I've been really lucky to not actually throw up but the constant nausea is no fun. I'm finding that sucking on lollipops helps, im totally stealing dumdums from my kids.

  • Apparently everyone is sick. Ugh. My husband and I have been miserable sick for a week. And now DS is getting it. Fortunately, I'm off work tomorrow, but I work Thursday and Friday and can't call in to be with him because I missed too much time when my dad had a heart attack two weeks ago. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Thanks for letting me piss and moan.

  • Update on my miserable awful "cold" - apparently I now have a secondary infection and it's an ear infection! I haven't even heard of an adult getting an ear infection and it doesn't just hurt in the ears - it results in excess fluid all over my face, causes head aches, clogs my nose, and is somewhat to blame for my throat issues according to the Dr. Ouch! I'm so over this - I've been crippling sick for a week now but can't stay home because work is crazy and needs me. This sucks but at least I have antibiotics now.

  • @cecilyandgautam‌ DH had an ear infection last year. I had never heard of adults getting them either, but I guess with LOs in the house it can happen. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks all for the well wishes. Work's been crazy so just checking back now to find all these nice messages - thanks :)

I do feel better. Thank the Lord for antibiotics and for a type that's approved during pregnancy! My voice is still shot but at least my cough is mostly gone now and last night, I slept without waking up to a coughing fit - a first since this all started - so I feel extra refreshed today.
