I'm not due until 4/30 but everyone close to me keeps asking if I'm eating pineapple, doing squats, etc I'm like noo she still has 3 weeks of baking! I get doing these things if you're "overdue" but why now??? Am I missing something?
The only thing I can think is that these things really don't induce labor, just help your body prepare. Some things like doing squats aren't really a bad idea to help your muscles in your pelvis. My DD will be induced next week and so I have been doing everything. Even spent a day on L&D and I'm dilated to almost a 5. She's just not ready. But I'm hoping that all the things I'm doing are going to make the actual birth easier on me. So they could mean that...
Agree with @pete0121 about helping your body prepare. I did a lot more preparations for my body when I was pregnant with DS than with this pregnancy (evening primrose oil orally, 100+ pelvic tilts a day, squatting stretches, sitting on exercise ball, avoid laying on couch or crossing legs, walking, red raspberry leaf tea) and I was 3 days early, and currently 3 days late with this one. Who knows if it's the reason, but I'm now getting going with things to open my pelvis and help baby descend to hopefully get this show on the road.
I'm two days past my EDD. I've tried just about everything: sex, walking far and frequently, bouncing on a yoga ball, raspberry leaf tea, eating pineapples like they are going to no longer exist, eating spicy food, squats, steps, etc. I may be preparing my body for labor but it certainly hasn't caused labor. I've been doing all of this for a solid 2 weeks and there has been no change in my cervix. Needless to say, I wouldn't stress trying to naturally induce until you are close or past your due date. It may or may not help, but worth a try.
I feel like it can't be both ways- like we can't sit here saying, "haha people trying everything, nothing will work anyway: and then criticize ppl for starting "too early." I'm in the "probably nothing works" camp, but have started some walking and exercises to try to turn my constant contractions into the "real deal." Honestly I don't think it's going to do anything, but it makes me feel better and gives me something to do after 12 weeks on the couch!

Surely you could not have made it this far through your PG without get any other unsolicited and maybe unfounded medical opinions/advice related to your PG? If so, you are very very lucky. If not, then you realize that people spout off all sorts of nonsense to PG women for some reason.
If you want to try to bring on labor there are all sorts of things that supposedly help but they are not guaranteed. And if you're not ready then just smile and nod when people tell you what to try.
I'm "overdue" and I'm tired of everyone's advice on how to get labor started. The baby will come when it feels like it- buckets of pineapple isn't going to change that!
Hope you're able to be patient with all of the free advice- I've taken to being a hermit to avoid dealing with dumbass comments.

Well had my weekly midwife visit today. I asked about the castor oil, which I don't want to take, but would rather drink than have a RCS. they suggested goldenseal first. So off DH and I went to the vitamin shop. So it's 4-5 cap 3 times daily. I just took my first dose. I hope this works.

I have no issues with castor oil but that seems like a lot! My MW said only a tablespoon on one day only! Unless I have completely mised something and goldenseal is something else?

That being said it makes me feel better that I'm being proactive... If that makes sense?
