NBR- rec your washer/dryer

We are moving!!! And doing a complete kitchen/laundry room makeover in the new house. So I need your washer/dryer recs, and any other appliances you have strong feelings about.

A little background... The laundry room is small, so I plan to add a counter above the w/d. We will likely do gray or stainless. Also, I love love love doing laundry. Looking to spend $1800 or less for the pair.

  • We have a top loader LE HE washer and dryer. The dryer is great and the washervis huge. I think they were $750 each. The greybones were $100 extra.

We have the LG top load washer and gas dryer. I really like them both. The only thing is the wash machine becomes unbalanced frequently, it seems to handle larger loads better. I love all the settings/options on both. I think they were roughly $750 each. Oh, and the wash machine has the controls on the top/front instead of the back... I love that!
    Eta: gas not has!

  • We have samsung washer and dryer that are awesome. :) the washer is a top loader but doesn't have an agitator so it doesn't mess up clothes and you don't need to worry about the front loading mold issues.
  • I'll be watching this thread.  We currently have an old set that was gifted to us when my SO's grandmother passed away, it's a little... dated.

We plan to move the washer/dryer we have now to a house we're renovating and renting out soon.

    I want something nice :)
  • I did mountains of research before buying our set last year. My short list was Samsung or LG, however I discovered that many Kenmore Elite models are actually Samsungs, just rebranded. We ended up with a Kenmore Elite (made by Samsung) and have been very happy, it's been a workhorse.

I also love laundry :) It was about $500 cheaper for the set, through Sears vs buying a Samsung branded one, and you get a 2 yr warranty for Kenmore vs 1yr Samsung. Ours is a dark grey and has some great features like steam, "power foam", and customizable cycle settings. We cloth diaper so it's being put through its paces and has done a great job.
