Bumpers-are you using them?

I still have our son's crib set in the packaging because I am not sure whether or not we should return it. My DH and I went to a class at the hospital and they said no bumpers because of SIDS...

Are you using bumpers? I would love to use the set but obviously don't want to put him in jeopardy....

I just want your advice prior to me going into the hospital on Saturday...nothing like last minute!

Ours are in the crib for now. If he starts to move around a lot then I will take it out.

My friend used her bumpers but she also had this wedge the baby slept in to prevent her from rolling over. So really it is not an issue. She has just been able to roll out of the wedge a few weeks ago (around 10 months old) and I think she just took the bumpers out, but at that age I would think she would be mobile enough to be able to move away from the bumper if she rolled up against it.

Since I'm making my set yes. However if I detect a problem then I will remove them.

We are thining we will too... I looked into the breathable ones and well, there is absolutely NO protection from the baby bumping it's head against the rails. So we will either go w/ the normal bumpers or no bumpers as all... the breathable ones, I really do not know what they are for.

We are currently using them but once they start moving around we will switch to breatheable ones.
