I just came across this article. I am stunned and so happy for anybody who needs IVF in Ontario. I'm hoping this can start a trend in other provinces and maybe even in other countries. It's just nice to see some positive IF news for a change.

Re: Holy Crap....
Okay, so that's great... but... it specifically says they will pay for one single cycle of IVF, that's a SET. So yeah, that's great for the people who get lucky on their first try. And those who would have never even gotten a single chance at IVF. A step in the right direction. But it's not enough.
If that free SET fails, they're just going to go to a different clinic and pay OOP to transfer 2 or 3. So I'm not sure how much this is going to help.

I'm not clear when reading the article if they mean they will cover only one cycle? Does covering the cycle include covering the cost of all the meds? Are there any exceptions to the one embryo transfer rule which just seems silly if you're talking about a woman who is 40 plus years of age? Is there a limit on the number of embryos allowed to be created? What happens to all the ones that aren't used? Are they frozen and is that expense covered potentially forever and all future FETs also covered?
And wait, what? Your clinic has a 75% success rate?
So many questions today!
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
We have a process called Selective Single Embryo Transfer and it's got a 73.7% success rate for women under 38.
I just know a few women who really can't afford IVF and this is opening doors for them. I'm just so pleased to see a positive start.
