Anyone else have or having triplets??

Hi, I am new to all of this...the Message boards I guess I should say.  I am a mom of 3 and am now pregnant for a 4th time.  Only this time I am pregnant with triplets...o'natural, as everyone asks.  I can't even begin to express my shock and the roller coaster I have experienced of emotions.  Today I am 11 wks and my belly is rather large seeings I am only 11 wks.  I am looking for anyone that can help me calm my thoughts, my nerves and my worries.  How does one do this?  I feel the want to see them daily as I'm so afraid of all of negatives I have read about.  March 26th at 8wks 6days we were confirmed through an ultrasound that all three are the same size and all have strong heart beats but I worry daily and I find the closer my next appointment is the more my mind wanders because as excited as I am to see them again, I am also so afraid I won't.  Thanks, any insight or even someone who is experiencing the same things would be appreciated :) How are you doing this? or what is your plan?  I want to nurse, I am cloth diapering for cost purposes and I want them all to be ok so I can love them as much on the outside as I do now carrying them.

Hi!  I *only* have twins so I don't know much about the logistics of three :)  But just wanted to say welcome and congrats!

ETA:  Try not to worry too much, it'll all work out.  It'll be scary and crazy but also so very wonderful.  And I agree with PP: this board is great.  Also, try to find a local MoM group so you can chat in "real life" with those that are going through the same things.  No one understands better then those who are in the same boat.
    :)
  • My best friend in college has younger brothers who are id trips. Her mom was trying for a third and got a surprise 4th and 5th!

Finding more than one in there almost always leads to shock - and also worry. Carrying more than one is def riskier but you'll be monitored closely for sure. It's definitely hard - I have one + twins, but you do it bc you have to. Lean on the support of friends and family and while at times it's hard to see the forest from the trees, it's a ride I wouldn't give up for the world.

Keep us updated! There are a few trip mamas around that can give you some specific triplet insight.

  • Congrats! Maybe talk to your ob about your fears. My ob allowed an in office u/s once a week for first tri with my twins. It helped me so much.
This is a great board to talk to through out your pregnancy. I also really like reading the Dr Luke book. It helped give me some clairity and focus.
  • Thank you everyone!! I am very excited about all of this!  If you knew me you would know I live and breath children :) I started babysitting when I was 10...wanted to be a children's lawyer...had my first born instead and fell in love with being a mom.  I have done daycare for 14 years, had my 2nd daughter, became a foster mother as I wanted to give more and met my son :) adopted him...wanted more and someone has listened :)  My other half was ecstatic but I know he to has his own worries and I hate to fill his head with all of mine.  I don't want us to become burnt out from worry rather then happy and this is why I choose to find someplace else, here, that people may know and can guide me and reassure...this is ok and will be :) and for ideas! I need to figure out breast feeding, although I have breast fed 3 is different ;)

  • I have some. You'll survive. :) Congrats and welcome to the club!

  • Thank you! & this was very cute to read :-) the doctor has told us that he believes that our triplets are fraternal.  He said this is because of the thickness of membranes between each placenta, I was a little concerned I would have to label them for my husbands sake lol
  • I "only" have twins.  Just wanted to say congrats and welcome!

  • Congrats!!

My trio are 3months old/2 weeks adjusted. It hasn't been an easy road so far but we are taking it day by day! We are also cloth diapering during the day (at home) and trying to establish breastfeeding. We have an older DS as well.

Best of luck! This board is a great resource.

  • Congrats - mine are almost 20 months and are a joyous handful. Like others have said, you do what you have to do - because you have to. I wouldn't change it for the world. Mine we preemies so with that came pumping and not having a good supply due to pumping, when they were old enough and strong enough to try none of them took to the breast very well but again might have been due to my supply issues. I didn't cloth diaper so can't say anything about that either. Start prepping your freezer with food. When you are caring for 3 newborns - time to make food vs sleeping doesn't happen easily :). This board is great for asking questions. We will all try to help.
  • I don't have trips (just 18 month old twins and I'm 16+3 weeks pg with a singleton)  but I just wanted to say welcome and congrats. I know for me 2 newborns was tough. You just do it though because you have to. Reach out to friends and family to help you. I didn't have a ton of help (my parents and 1 friend) but it helps. This board is awesome and full of lots of supportive and knowledgeable ladies.

  • Hi there! Congrats!

I am also on pg with twins, but my BIL and SIL have amazing 7 year old triplets! I have spoken with my SIL a lot about my pregnancy and fears and her advice is to stay off google. Stay as far away as you can!! This board is great, but do not look up statistics or complications and all that other jazz on random sites. Listen to your doctor and take it easy on yourself, you have quite a road in front of you and you need your rest and relaxation (hard with 3 kids, I know!). If you are feeling afraid, call you dr and go in to see them. They expect this from a MoM - don't be scared or nervous to call.

GL momma - you've got this! It is going to be great!

  • I am pregnant with twins.  All through my first trimester and into my second I was feeling just like you.  I had anxiety about being able to care for all of my kids (having one with special needs), also, how I would make it through my pregnancy after feeling so crummy from early on.  Constantly worrying about how they were doing and growing.  I talked with my OB and she has had twins so that helps when I go in I can talk to her.  Some days I felt like I was going crazy with my emotions.  It will get better, just take everything one day at a time.  Remember your hormones are very high.  Hang in there.  *hugs*

I have so learned to steer clear of Googleing everything that passes in my head!!! some of that stuff out there is absolutely horrifying to read!! We have just an ultrasound at 11wks 4days and the Nuchal translucency test for genetics/downs syndrome and as my doctor put it...our babies are PERFECT!! :) all have strong heartbeats, 155, 158 & 162 and are all the same size, no one is struggling :)  So no more googling for this mama lol  it was amazing to see them "dance" around as, as my hubby says they were doing....its not the same as the simple 2 ultrasounds I had with my other children.  I love watching my babies grow!!!
