long month!

This has been one long month! My inlaws usually like to have my son once a week, but he has been sick on and off all month so its been me and him 24/7- grouchy, explosive diapers and all. To add onto that this cycle was hell. I don't remember having hot flashes this bad last time and its screwing with my sleep. Anyways, I went in for clomid labs today and there

was a new nurse at my OGBYN office. She had to poke me 4 times before she found a vein.I told her the tourniquet wasn't on tight enough, and then it took 5 minutes for the blood to drip into the vial. So much fun! Either way, I'm glad my clomid labs are done and I will have the results tomorrow. Keeps your fingers crossed for me that I don't have to up my dose of clomid again. This cycle has been crappy!

If anyone has any tips or tricks on combating the hot flashes and sleeplessness (I take tylenol PM every night and I'm still not sleeping) I would gladly welcome them!

Thanks for letting me rant

Re: long month!

  • I too am a hard stick, lots of water and do you do baby aspirin as part of protocol? No tips on sleep, I'm a regular insomniac :( I would stay off the Tylenol pm, your body will get used to it and not be able to sleep regularly until it adjusts (sleep doctor talking not me). He also reccomended no caffeine after NOON (12pm) and quiet hour before bed (no stimulation such as running around, video games or tv. It rewards the reward part of brain whic keeps you awake longer). Hard to do w kid- I totally get that, but if he's open to it, reading, drawing, telling stories in the hour before you go down (of course if kiddo goes to bed first, whatever down time is good for you- I go to sleep w my perpetual motion machine). Anyway, those were instructions I was given- maybe something might help you, good lunch and w cycle too!!!

Have you tried taking a melatonin each night.  A doctor recommended that for my DH, plus if you can get a good bedtime routine set it can help.  The melatonin tells your body that it is time to sleep and the routine helps tell your mind that it is time to sleep.

Maybe that might help.  Hope they don't have to up your clomid dosage.  Also the hot flashes should subside as you go off the clomid.

  • I don't do a baby aspirin as part of my regimen- does it help with the meds? I stopped taking my ambien after 10 years of being a hardcore insomniac and the tylenol PM was working just fine until I started the clomid. All I do at night is sweat even though I have the airconditioning on and i'm sleep butt naked- TMI sorry.

  • I like the tylenol because I have a herniated disc in my neck that bothers me a lot and I dont want to take the prescription painkillers again. That was a dark and hard road to get off.
