Do you use baby laundry detergent?

I know this was just brought up in UO but I've actually been thinking of asking everyone about this because, honestly, I'm sick of buying two different detergents. I would also like to do bigger loads of laundry by mixing out stuff together.

Re: Do you use baby laundry detergent?

  • I use unscented Tide liquid and just skip the fabric softener and add an extra rinse.
  • Loading the player...
  • We switched our detergent to All Free & Clear, so I chose SS. It's not specifically for babies, but we use it bc it was recommended for LO.
  • We use either tide or gain. I figured that if it caused a reaction for DS, then we would switch to a f&c detergent.

Dreft is tide with other scents and softeners. Totes unnecessary!

  • We use free and clear detergent f or everyone. I have both scented and unscented fabric softener though
  • I use whatever free and clear is on sale. I also sprinkle a bit of oxy clean powder in there.
  • This content has been removed.
  • Original I use F&C for just LOs loads, but realized it was rediculous. She is in constant contact with fabric washes in standard laundry soap without reaction. It's so much easier to do larger loads now. I use gain and softener for everything now.

  • We use all free n clear for everything, but I also have a bottle of purex baby. If I'm doing only baby stuff, I'll use that since I have it.

  • I figured I'd know within a week if she had sensitivities. Didn't notice any so once the free and clear was gone, we went back to regular.

Regular Tide for us.  We don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets because DH has sensitive skin and it's bad for tech fabrics (running/biking gear), so we categorically don't use it.

  • I love the smell of dreft so I use it... But then I use regular bounce fabric softner. I can still smell the dreft tough. I wash everyone's clothes seperate so it's no big deal to use a seperate detergent for the baby. With my oldest I eventually switched to a regular sented detergent by the time she was in pre k.

  • Thanks everyone I'm just glad to know that baby detergent isn't absolutely necessary. I've never even heard of this Free and Clear kind but think that might be what I start using now
  • I use dye-free (All Free and Clear, and "free" softener) for everything. I picked SS because it was a change for us. I used to like my laundry to smell like pretend wildflowers or meadows or springs.
LOL. Me too. I loves me the cloying scent of some snuggle fabric softner
  • We use Dreft For DS1 and LO because DS1 has eczema and it really the only thing that doesn't irritate it. We also wash their clothes separate from mine and DH's because of things that might come in contact with our clothes and don't want it mixing with theirs. I have been wanting to switch to a different detergent so we can all use the same thing but its hard switching for DS1 and not knowing if something with irritate his skin or not. Anyone have similar problems? Did free and clear work?
  • I switched to All Free and Clear when we had DS, and Downy Free and Clear for liquid fabric softener. Never switched back, I just use it for all of our clothes now. I used to love the smell of detergent and fabric softener, too, but now that I've switched, I prefer it this way.

  • Most detergent brands have a "free and clear". I started with the All Free and clear but I will buy which ever one is cheapest. I most recently got the Arm & Hammer brand Free and Clear. I think they are all kind of the same. We also don't use fabric softener for LOs clothes.
  • I use dreft for LO but when this bottle is gone I won't buy more. I do enjoy the smell though! I really like my laundry to smell good so I used detergent, fabric softener, scent beads(mostly on bedding)and dryer sheets!
  • Usually use All Free & Clear since I have sensitive skin, which DS1 inherited. Now, we're using Charlie's Soap since I have an oversupply due to subscribe-and-save for our cloth diapers.

At this age, also, I only want LO smelling my milky goodness and not my detergent, etc.
