I never dropped with my first daughter... they actually made me wait to push even though I was fully dilated because she was still so high.

Monday I had bad contractions, and Tuesday I woke up and my belly was gone... she dropped. Cue big time pressure and pains. I'm only 33 weeks, so I'm dreading these next 7 weeks! This is new for me since I didn't feel like this with my first.

Any stm+ remember when they dropped before and how soon afterwards they went into labor? Just curious... I by no means think it's coming, or want it to come, this early haha. My only friend that remembered dropping did so 4 weeks before labor with both of her kids.

I can't say whether I dropped with DS1 or not. I was induced at 41 weeks with him, and I think he was still pretty high. Never made progress with him, so I ended up with a c-section. I have been told by five different coworkers this week that I have "definitely" dropped. I'll take it, because it hopefully means some progress that will help me achieve my VBAC goal.

I actually brought this up to my doctor on Monday at my 36 wk appointment and she said that they don't really look at if a woman has 'dropped' to determine if baby is coming soon or not. Based upon my u/s and cervix check, she said baby's head is engaged in my pelvis. Regardless, I'll still be monitoring my belly to see if I can notice an actual change.

I have certainly dropped about a week ago. I'm 36+ now. I know he's really down there after being checked yesterday she had said his head was down there. It's better for breathing, but now is the fun of constant peeing and a pretty obvious waddle.

Head is engaged over here and belly is lower. I'm also feeling more pressure down low when I walk. I've been given the go ahead to start on the red raspberry leaf tea if I so wish, but I'm gonna leave it a little longer.

Baby has been head down and pushing her head directly into my faulty cervix since 18 weeks. I think she turned briefly (1-2days) during week 31 because I had some super weird feeling movements but by the next weekly ultrasound was right back there using my cerclage like a hat. If she dropped any lower she would be hanging out of my vagina. (Seriously- I only have a tiny bit of cervix left and she is all up in it)

So I've either been dropped for half my pregnancy or dropping for me means in active labor.

Baby is in place and my belly is lower, I don't know if that's technically what is meant by dropping. It's not like one day my belly was high and the next it was low and it was this noticeable difference. But I can see it when I compare my belly to pics from previous weeks.

My belly looks a little lower but no huge change. At my midwife appointment a couple days ago she said he's head down and starting to engage. We also know this bc I've been getting cramps really low that feel like period cramps and some fun cervical pain which she said is just baby doing his thing and moving into spot. I'm 36+1 today

I dropped during my 33rd week. He was always really high and it was hard to breath, but then suddenly I had my lung capacity back and extreme pressure on my pelvis (I was walking through Home Depot the other day towards the bathrooms and it felt like if I sneezed he was going to pop out). At my OB appointment on Tuesday they said he was basically in position for labour.

Last time I dropped around 33 weeks, DD was born at 39w6d. This time, I am carrying SO low and have been the whole time, I don't think it's possible for her to drop any lower.

I'm 35 weeks today and I think I dropped this week. DH came home last night from a week away and said "whoa! Your belling is pointing down now!" I couldn't notice, but he could. I had some intense contractions last night so maybe it's going hand in hand.

Similarities here. Dropped at 36 weeks def noticed a dif in the belly as did everyone at work so I'm getting a lot of comments so that's fun.
Not dialated but "thinned out" and DDs locked and loaded in the pelvis. I've noticed a huge change in walking now bc it baisically feels awful. Midwife told me start PRO 2 in the mouth 2 in the vag to start helping the cervix. That should be interesting......

With DS, I carried super high and didn't notice any change before I went into labor with him suddenly at 32w. When I was 26w with him, OB noticed that the head was low even then, but in at pic I took a few days before I had him, it looks like I had a basketball jamming up into my ribs.

This one, I'm carrying lower, but still on the high side. I've had cervical checks regularly and it's been a slow but steady decent. Baby's head is pretty darn low now (dilated to a 1), but I have not noticed any difference in the belly.

I'm almost 36 weeks and baby's head is engaged and I'm 2 cm dilated. OB didn't mention anything about my cervix being effaced since I'm supposed to have a repeat C-section. Surgery has been scheduled for May 6 so we'll see if baby will wait til then.

I dropped around 38-39 weeks with DD (and delivered at 39w3d). Her head had been "right there" since my internal started at 37 weeks though - I carried fairly low to begin with so dropping didn't mean much other than my belly looked a little different. I'm definitely carrying this one similarly though I wouldn't say I've "dropped".

Based on the fact that I still can't breathe and I can feel LO snuggling my ribs, I'm going to guess I haven't dropped yet. But the ob thinks he's head down.

According to my MW, first babies often drop several weeks before birth, and second+ babies don't really drop until labor begins.

I never dropped with DS, and yes, I mean never (he was and emergency c-section). But I have dropped with this one, although still have 4 weeks to go till my RCS. The way I can tell is that my boobs are no longer resting on my belly and I can actually carry on a conversation with someone without getting out of breath, it's been a wonderful few days

Although, the downside is that walking is much more painful.

I know this is gonna sound FTM stupid, but can you feel dilation? I swear i can feel something like stretching down there. I definitely get the pressure whenever i walk, but sometimes it feels like baby is trying to prize something open.

DD1 dropped a few weeks before delivery. She was so low, that at I think my 37w check, the Dr's fingers met her head, and they were both startled. I also spent a few weeks at 2cm, and 80% effaced. None of it means that delivery is coming in the very near future. I know DD2 has been low and engaged for a few weeks now as well. The tech at our 34w growth scan was amazed with how low she was already. No dilation at 36w appt, 37w today... still waiting....

in the past couple of days people have been commenting that i've "dropped"...I don't notice it and I'm not ready for this kid to come out for another 5 weeks so he better not try anything funny! (PS It's reassuring to hear the comments above that "dropping" =/= having a baby).

@CamrynnsMommy - I think there's just so much going on down there at the moment it could be anything. It does feel like stretching in that area though. The pressure is pretty intense sometimes, especially when i'm walking. I hope she stays in for a couple more weeks!
