Expectant mom and doctor appointments

Hi! Our expectant mom is about 34 weeks along and hasn't gone to the doctor since the end of February. She makes appointments but doesn't them. 1- how important for the baby's health is it for her to be going? Her records indicate a healthy baby and pregnancy thus far. (Might sound silly but never being pregnant myself and hearing from others who have been, I hear that most of the time it's a quick visit and can be a waste of time). 2- do you think that this lack of going to the doctors means that she really hasn't formed an attachment to the baby, which in the case of adoption isn't necessarily a bad thing or because this is not her first birth, she feels no need to go as much. 3- what was or has been your experience with your birth/ expectant mom and doctor appointments. Thanks in advance!

    I have no experience with adopting but from pregnancy I remember the appointments after 36 weeks being most important because they need to make sure baby is in the right position, growing at the right rate, you don't have gestational diabetes, see if you look like you are looking favorable to deliver soon or if there is something that would make you need a c-section. That said lots of people never see a doctor and are fine so don't worry yourself too much.

    1-It's important for all the reasons that IDigDirt mentioned. Plus they'll check her BP to make sure she doesn't have issues there

    2-I think you're reading too much into what her reasoning or mindset might be. There could be a million reasons she's not going

    3-we have zero experience. DD's birthmom didn't know she was pg, and had no prenatal care or dr visits

    Our social worker took B-Mom to all her appointments in the last trimester. I believe they are pretty important.
