Recommend your allergy medicine (over the counter please)

After sneezing and blowing my nose about 1,000 times today..... and the headache, sinus pressure, and watery eyes i think i might have allergies.

Re: Recommend your allergy medicine (over the counter please)

  • Claritin D is the only thing that works for me.  I need the D as I get major sinus pressure/issues with allergies.
    TWSS lol

    Thanks!

  • I also need the D.  Allegra D is what I take.

You may be fine without- I've found Zyrtec to be the best.  But everyone is different and you may need to fool around to find what works the best for you.

It's possible you have a sinus issue, maybe?

You totes jinked yourself for saying like a day or two ago you don't have allergies :P

  • Agree with @Chapter79‌. You have to try a few, but generally the pharmacist will recommend to start with Clariten, then Allegra, then Zyrtec. If all of those fail, see the doc. Also, Costco has most of these brands $6 off in this months coupons. Not that you should buy the sixty day supply yet, but when you get it sorted.
  • I was on claritin for years, before it went OTC.  worked great, but takes a while to kick in.  in the meantime, or for short duration stuff, I use the dye-free gelcap benedryl.  makes me sleepy, but does the trick better than anything else I've tried.

I've also been on zyrtec for a lengthy time before.  I don't know if I'd say it was better/worse than claritin, so it's also an option, in my book.

Unfortunately, allergies can strike at any time. I went through my life without any, until I entered my 30's. Now they're pretty bad.  My mom developed allergies in her 50's, to pollen. Was never an issue until last year for her. Sucks.
