MamaRoo vs. Regular Swing

Anyone have any thoughts or impute on this swing vs others? Doing my registry in a couple weeks and thought some moms experience would be good reviews are all over the place . Any information would be appreciated :)

Re: MamaRoo vs. Regular Swing

  • It's personal preference for sure but my bestie has a mama roo and I had the sweet peace giraffe swing with my boys, I didn't like that the mama roo was so low to the ground but it had some cool stuff. When it was time for me to buy a new swing for baby 3 I went with the snugabunny. My kids preferred the swing over the mama roo.

  • I didn't use the mommaroo but I have the snuggly lamb one and love it. DD slept in for the first 2 months because the bassinet was too flat. Mommaroos probably aren't worth the price IMHO.

  • We got the MamaRoo used on ebay for our second.  Our second loved to be moving, but the MamaRoo was so gentle it didn't cut it for her.  Each baby is different, though, so we'll try it out with this LO.

I'm so glad to hear that! I got it for an excellent price and I'm so excited to use it!

  • Had a loved the Fisher Price SnuggleBunny swing with my DS.  My SIL had her son last weekend and somehow she didn't have a swing??  This one worked really well for us.

  • I had a Snugabunny swing with my first 2 but the motor died after my oldest kept climbing in it while it was swinging. I decided to try a Mamaroo this time primarily due to space reasons.  We needed something small and I had been wanting to try it out.  I generally think you can make a baby like about anything lol

  • I had a swing for LO1, he liked it for a few weeks then he was over it. Plus it was just too bulky to move anywhere because it's stupid legs. I wanted the MamaRoo with LO1 but I couldn't justify spending $400 on it.
For LO2, I already got the MamaRoo as a gift. I put LO1 in it and turned it on and sat in it for 15 min just riding away thru the different motions. I hope LO2 will like it. I like the different motions instead of just back and forth. It's easy enough to move upstairs or outside when needed.

  • We are getting the Mamaroo, mostly because a friend has it and her baby loves it. I also like how it takes up less space.

  • We were just debating this. My SO was intrigued by the Mamaroo when we were browsing BRU trying to figure out what to put on our registry. I have to admit, it does seem kinda cool.

I do have reservations, as obviously it is not a traditional swing. However, we decided to try it out mainly for the size. The other swing, actually glider, we were eyeing was still pretty large. Also, at BRU the Mamaroo is $250. The swing/glider we were considering was close to $200. So, not that big of a price difference. I have friends that have each and have good/bad things to say about both so I think it comes down to personal preference. :)

  • I work at a baby store and we sell the mamaroo and it's one of our best sellers. Its amazing and pretty cool...plus the thing I love about it is no batteries! Also the base lasts a long time, we run ours 8 hours a day 7 days a week and it runs like a champ.

With that being said it does come down to preference...all I can say is in the year I've worked there we've never had a complaint. Oh and 4Moms (company who makes the mamaroo) is amazing and super helpful.

    I say it's worth it. :)

  • I had a Graco 4-in-1 bouncy seat/swing thing. that PLUGGED IN. I figured we'd save a fortune in batteries. My son hated it like it was a torture device. best laid plans, once again. I thought it looked comfy and had different speeds, songs on it... the mamaroo does look cool! although my intro to it was turning a corner in BBB and there were 3 displays on an endcap right in front of me, gyrating out of sync and I was like "WTF is that! alien dancing swings?"

  • A friend just have me her mama roo. We have a swing as well. Tbh, it's whatever makes baby happy. The swing was too fast for a newborn even on low setting. DD was flinging in it. #1 was 7 lbs 10oz and #2 was 6lb 4 oz. we had to wait for them to get bigger to use the swing.

  • I am not getting a swing to start out with this time. My daughter never cared for hers and it was a big waste of space and money. If baby no. 2 can get by without one I will gladly avoid the purchase.
