Had them stripped twice, first time this past Sunday and then the day after once my Cervidil had opened things up a bit. The first time only a tiny trickle of fluid came out, sort of akin to the "nipple" you sometimes get on top of a balloon when you blow it up. The second time my OB couldn't manage it with her fingers so she used something thin (don't know what, cervix was still high so I had my eyes closed because it hurt), and a LOT more came out then. It was like I'd peed myself with two full, unsquished bladders. Contractions started soon after that one!
ETA: was 39+2.

stripping membranes isn't the same as breaking your waters, so typically I don't think you would expect fluid to come out if they're *just* stripping your membranes.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
I just had this done yesterday at 40 weeks even. Aside from feeling more crampy and like he's sitting lower, I haven't had any additional progress that I know of. Fwiw, I'm just under 4cm and 80% effaced, aside from the usual discomfort of an internal, it didn't hurt.

39 weeks 6 days. Something happened where my water ruptured quickly after the stripping, so had the baby 40 weeks 3 days. (I didn't know my water broke for a couple days)
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
Wow we cant have it done till after due date here! I'm hoping to have mine done next Wednesday if nothing by then... Though it seems pointless going by responses - as in will only help if near labor anyway!
Angel baby June 2013, DD born 22 April 2014, BFP 10 Sept 2015 - Due 22 May 2016
Had mine stripped at 39 w 6 days. I had her 5 days later so I don't think it technically worked but it seemed like it got the ball rolling. I didn't find it anymore painful than a cervical check.
I got mine stripped in the morning (40 weeks +1) and went into labor last night. I felt crampy all morning and then had my baby last night. It could work but it might not.
Had it done yesterday at 39w. Got good contractions for a while but they died out... It wasn't any more painful than a regular internal. Even though it hasn't put me in to real labor yet I'm hoping it's helped me progress.
I should add that I went on really nice long walks every day (like 2.5-3 miles) after having mine stripped which I think combined with the membrane stripping really did it. Who knows though, could have just been the walks, could have been a fluke.
I had it done yesterday at 40+2. I was only 1.5 cm when she did it so she could only use 1 finger instead of 2. It hurt quite a bit. It's been 22 hrs and I haven't really even had any contractions from it so I'm feeling pretty safe to say it didn't work this time.
Had mine stripped this morning - 38w 3d. I'm 4cm already, so OB is hoping this may stir things up a bit...who knows.
Also went ahead and schedule an acupuncture session for Monday if nothing has happened by then. Similarly, no proof that it'll do anything, but can't hurt, right?!

Had mine yesterday at 37 wks 1 day. Losing plug today. We'll see. Last two had it done during wk 37 and had them both within a few days so here's hoping. I was 2.5 cm yesterday and I'm ready!!
39&2 for me. It didn't hurt but was uncomfortable. I was 1cm dilated. Crampy all day... Labour started later that day (early evening) and our lil man was born at 12:31. It worked and rather well I might add!!
Re: If you had your membranes stripped
My doctor said it only works when you are practically already in labor.
