STMs - Heartburn and Hair

Was the Old Wives' Tale true for you...if you had heartburn during pregnancy, did you have a baby with a lot of hair?

I'm sure hoping that I'll get something for all this heartburn I'm having! For what it's worth, both my brother and I had a TON of hair and my mom had heartburn with my brother but not with me!

ETA - According to my What to Expect book, there is actually some truth the this. Not sure on the details, though. I just remember reading a snippit about it.

I had the worst heartburn of my freaking life when I was pregnant with my first. Water gave me heartburn. I thought she was going to be the hairiest kid ever. She was completely bald. She still barely had enough hair to put barrettes in by her 1st birthday. We managed to get it into a pony tail around 2 years old. My second pregnancy didn't give me as much heartburn, and she had more hair. Full on ponytails before she was a year old.

So, unfortunately, it was not true for me.

I only had mild heartburn with DD and she's always had a lot of hair. It reached her shoulders around her first birthday.

Not true for me either. I had terrible heartburn with my daughter and she was pretty much bald from birth to at least 2 years old.

I had it pretty bad (and usually I don't get it at all) and she just had some peach fuzz.

Yes, true for me. Bad heartburn and DS had lots of hair. He has amazing red hair that gets compliments from strangers nearly every day. No heartburn yet with this one so he may not have lucked out in the hair department.

It's confusing, there is a hormone associated with hair growth for the baby that does cause heartburn, but there are lots of reasons when pregnant that you can get heartburn, and just because your baby has hair doesn't mean you will get heartburn, so it's not really a good indicator. I had no heartburn with DS and he was born with a complete head of gorgeous hair. Basically you can't use it as an indicator of hair or not while you are pregnant but if you end up having a baby with hair and had heartburn then that might be the cause of your heartburn. Don't know if that makes sense!

Heartburn with my first two and both came out with full heads of hair. Heartburn again this time, so we'll see....

Completely true for me! I had the most horrendous heartburn with DD, even regular plain tap water have me heartburn. She was born with hair Long enough to pig tail.

Heartburn wasn't quite as bad with DS and his hair was a little shorter but he was still born with a ton of hair.

I had no-mild heartburn and DD had a decent amount of hair. Not a gorilla but she wasn't bald either.

He had a full head, not thick/crazy hair but plenty of it. No heartburn. I Never get heartburn though, pregnant or after a giant meal, never.

i had only mild heartburn with my first but he was born with a pretty significant head of hair. the heartburn was really rough in early pregnancy but otherwise it wasn't very bad.

No heartburn with DD. They were able to show us her hair at an U/S at 39 weeks to check on her size. We didn't know the sex before she was born, but we knew there would be hair!

I've already consumed more Tums with this pregnancy than I've ever consumed in my entire life.
