Rant: I feel pathetic...

I move bodies for a living. Sure I use technology to do it but I move human bodies, and dress them, and bathe them. I walk the dog ~2 miles a day to the park and back.  Why am I panting over carrying a laundry basket upstairs?

How are you guys doing? Any tasks making you feel like a pathetic blob of flesh?

  • Stairs and getting up off the floor.  Our house is completely one level, so I don't deal with stairs on a daily basis.  I go up two flights to get to my doctor's office, and my main goal is to catch my breath by the time I get down the hall to her office so that I don't look completely ridiculous.  And I look pretty much like my 71-year-old dad when I get up off the floor.

I'm pretty sure the 40 pounds I gained last year after having DD are more responsible than the pregnancy right now, but you know, it's a convenient excuse.
  • I have the hardest time getting off the floor..well doing pretty much anything! We went for a SUPER short walk yesterday around the neighborhood and I was out of breath...I don't remember his happening so early last time!

  • I taught Jazzercise until I was 32 weeks last time, but the stairs at my house would kill me. So far I've been lucky, but I expect that to change any day now.

  • Stairs also. I'll work out at the gym and then walk up the 4 flights of stairs to get back to my truck and it really elevates my heart rate. Sometimes I stop midway to take a little breather. It makes me feel like such a wimp, because I am in decent shape!

  • The campus where I am taking my one class this semester is very hilly. I recently discovered an elevator that helps me avoid about 6 flights of stairs up a hill. I've taken it a couple of days now. I've also been dizzy and had to sit on the ground for several minutes to catch my breath/stop the spins... and then had a terrible time attempting to stand up :(

I talked to my doctor about this at my appointment last week and she said it's normal and doesn't mean that I'm out of shape or weak. Just need to remember that the baby is the priority for oxygen and will continue to take whatever it needs from me so I'll just have to slow down.

This has been super difficult for me to accept (I'm still annoyed when I have to stop and catch my breath) because it's really outside of my comfort zone to need to slow down or ask for help with physical activity. I'm the kind of person who would rather injure myself attempting to carry in 7 bags of groceries than make a second trip to the car... now Hubbs won't even let me carry more than one bag at a time.
  • Stairs!  And it seems like I get exhausted from shopping trips... Like, I want to take a nap in the car.  It's not like we're running through the store or that we're even out for that long... wtf?

  • HA where to begin...I think panting like a dog on a hot day from going up the 1 flight of stairs I've gone up everyday for work for the past few years definitely doesn't help ease the feeling of patheticness.

Stairs are sucking right now! 2 story house, laundry in basement- hampers on top floor so I'm going down and up two flights of stairs = out of breath. Top loading washer front loading dryer - my dear back ouch. Dishes suck and getting kids in and out of the car has been taking a lot out of me.

  • Stairs are the WORST. I also have to sit down for a minute after I take a shower. So, I feel you in the feeling pathetic sense of things... Hang in there.

  • I become exhausted taking a shower. Like, out of breath, need to sit down and rest exhausted. I take them at night now so I can just fall into bed.

  • My school campus is spread out so walking to my teammates' classrooms leaves me completely out of breath. I've been making people come to my room for meetings instead!!!!

Me too! I have to make a break time before attempting to dry my hair or even brushing my teeth! I have joked about putting a shower chair in there...

We lived somewhere else while I was pregnant last time, and the shower had a built in bench. Best thing ever. Really helped shaving as I got bigger too.

  • Adding another vote to stairs. I live on a 3rd floor apartment and some days it rots. Also, hills. Trying to walk outside getting to our apartment complex at the top of the hill has been killing me. I am literally gasping for breath which is so out of character.
