~*Plus Size Check-In*~

edited April 2014 in September 2014 Moms
Good afternoon, pretty ladies!

Sorry this is coming so late! It was just one of those crazy, busy days :-) I hope Spring has finally found you all and is bringing you a reprieve from the long, cold winter.

So, how is everyone feeling? Are you managing to keep any sort of exercise routine? If not, do you plan to start once the weather gets a little warmer? What's your fave form of exercise? Is there any physical activity that you'll have to give up that you'll miss?

As always, feel free to share any good sales on plus maternity clothes...or any stores that you've had success finding stuff that fits and looks great!

Re: ~*Plus Size Check-In*~

  • We still have mounds of snow here but it's almost 70 degrees today! Potatoes and asparagus in the oven and DH will be grilling some steaks... can't wait!

I miss Zumba! I was told right away I could keep going but I was so exhausted I didn't make it and now I get winded going upstairs so I doubt I would make it. Since the begining of Feb I've been successfully making it to thr gym 12 times a month to get my insurance credit. I just swim laps or go to water aerobics. Once it dries up DH and I usually walk the pups daily after dinner too!

I know Motherhood has a 20% off promo and free shipping with $75 purchase. I got some dress pants there I love. I believe Old Navy also has 20% off right now and 30% if you have an Old Navy credit card!

  • Doing good here. The heartburn can get pretty intense; it woke me up last night and I ended up getting sick. Tums aren't doing the trick anymore so I'm just trying to watch what I eat for dinner.
Right now, I'm just walking to and from class but I do plan to start walking and riding my bike once the semester is over. My mom has an above ground pool, so I do plan on going over there to do some low impact water exercises once the weather gets hot.

@shauna813 A few weeks ago, I bought 2 maternity blouses from the local thrift shop. It depends what store you go to; I had NO luck at the Salvation Army...no plus sizes and the clothing they did have was old and dirty. I want to go back to the other place this week to see if they have any new stuff.
I ordered more stuff from Old Navy and am keeping the maxi dress I got. I still have to try on the linen pants, but I'm REALLY hoping they fit b/c they look so comfy.

  • I think my nose is on strike... It is either running, or bleeding, or both constantly. It is starting to make sleep an interesting game. I still have occasional bouts of nausea, usually after a shower or a rapid position change. If I get winded, I will get queasy.. boo.  But my weight loss looks like it has stopped, which is probably an okay thing. I'm just trying to make sure I am eating good things and not over eating.

DH and I are walkers, we walk his parents dog every day, about 2 miles or so (more when I'm not too tired from work).. this is sometimes hard for me if I had a rough night at work, but for the most part it's relaxing. He complains we walk a little slower now, but I'm just glad it's warm enough out to be out daily.  I've had to really pick up the stretching with how much random back and hip pain I've had. Right now I'm looking around at our local gyms to see if I can find any pregnancy yoga classes, I've always enjoyed it in the past and I think it would really help with some of the pain I've been in. I won't lie and say I had a regular work out routine before I got pregnant, but I did at a time and I figure this would be a good time to get back into some light routine to help de-stress.

  • Hello ladies, hope you all are doing well.

I've been able to get back to the gym in the last three weeks. Before BFP I was going 4x/week. Right now I'm able to do 2x. I'm just doing a shortened/reduced weight circuit training with treadmill at the end. I notice my feet get worn out so much faster :/

I also went to a thrift shop over the weekend for fun with family. Didn't expect to find anything. I found a pair of maternity slacks, maternity jeans, and a maternity denim shorts. All for $20. I was very pleased :)

  • Hi ladies!

I keep telling myself that when tax season is over, I'll have the energy to get back to the gym. Sigh. 5 days to go, and I'm free.

I can't wait to get some exercise via yard work either!

Old Navy has some dresses on sale, maternity included. I'm always hesitant, but now that I'm looking through my old maternity stuff, most of my very favorite pieces were Old Navy maternity.  (And Lane Bryant, but those bastards stopped doing maternity wear sometime between my first and my second pregnancies. Jerks.)

  • I am feeling great, I really got into running last year, but I took  4 months off due to the horrible winter and exhaustion and I don't think my dr believes just how much running I did last year (I trained for a 5 k and ran at least 2 miles 3 times a week).  So I am going to start walking.

  • Doing pretty good :) My biggest issue is sleep. I still have to get up to pee 3-4 times a night and find myself constantly waking up on my back so I don't think I am getting into a deep sleep bc I am scared of staying on my back too long.

I have tried to keep up my walking routine from the beginning of my BFP but there are some days where I am just too damn tired so I probably only walk 3-4 times a week. I found a place by my house that does pre-natal yoga and I think I am going to go next week. I have been feeling really stressed and so I am hoping that may help :)

No deals on maternity clothes that I have found but I could definitely use a few more tops. I am hoping to get out this weekend and do some searching!

  • Yay spring! \:D/

I tried prenatal Yoga DVD from the library. It helped my back so much that I'm going tomorrow with a friend to do an actual class. I'm excited! Now it's warm I've been walking the dog around the block in the morning and sometimes when I get home. The block is a third of a mile but it's something. I'd like to go to the gym again, even just to walk on rainy days.

I got 5 tank tops, and 3 shorts from old Navy with the 30% off. Then I needed dress pants for a briefing at work, so went to destination motherhood. They have short inseam pants which was awesome! I also got 2 shirts for buy one get one half off and 3 tank tops for buy 2 get 1 free. Then I got a tankini for $40. Now all I need is a few more dress shirts for work and I think I'm good!

  • Feeling better than I have been.  Back is still tender, but it's getting to the point where I should start doing some good stretches.  I'm gonna check netflix see what they have.  I also want to check out the ymca around here and see what they have as far as swimming or yoga.  In the past I've had bouts of working out... at one point I was walking/jogging a mile a day (which was effective for weight loss... doesn't mean I didn't hate it).  Unfortunately swimming has always been the only physical activity I've actually enjoyed.

I ordered a couple of tank tops from Kohl's.  They were clearance, and I had a coupon for 25% off and free shipping.  I also bought a wool coat that was marked down like 80%.  Should be here saturday :)  I found one shirt at the local Goodwill... but it's pretty rural here, so I wanna check out a couple more in nearby cities.

  • Hi ladies!

Doing ok here.  Since my gestational diabetes diagnosis I have really started getting strict on my diabetes diet.  My levels have been fantastic the last 2 weeks which Im happy about.  Buuuuuttt I am down probably 8lbs since I got pregnant.  Im seeing my dr today, we'll see what she says.

Ive back and hip pain the last 9 weeks or so, that is still going on.  Almost to the point where Im having issues walking and bending.  Im supposed to contact a physical therapist this week.  I havent yet.

    Hello, girls!

I'm feeling pretty good. I had my 16 week appt yesterday, and was put on Labetalol for high blood pressure. My BP was running high before I got pregnant, so I've been worried about it the whole pregnancy. I'm actually feeling relieved that we're treating it now. She did tell me that high blood pressure can wear down the placenta faster, but she seemed encouraging that I'd still be able to carry to 40 weeks (just not over). She also bumped up our A/S a week so she could see how I'm doing on the Labetalol, so that was nice.

My favorite form of exercise is walking. I've been getting in as much as I can. Which up until March was none because it's been such a bad winter. It's 70 out today, though! I am giving up the other form of exercise that I enjoy, bike riding. Every time I go out into the garage and see my bike hanging up, I feel sad. But it's just one summer, and my baby is more important to me.

I went to Motherhood Maternity last weekend and bought a bunch of tanks for the summer. They fit well, are comfy, and were buy 3, get one free. I've started wearing my maternity jeans I got from Target and I love them! They are so comfortable and long enough for me (I'm tall and most jeans are not).

ETA: I hadn't read the other posts yet when I posted. I didn't realize other girls were going to ride their bikes this summer. I'm going to clear it with the Ob, but if she gives me to go ahead, then I will definitely be doing that this summer!

    Hey y'all!

I've actually had a tougher week this week.  I think the baby is growing a lot, which is causing some indigestion.  Heartburn is back, so that hasn't been fun.  Overall though, I'm thankful for the warm weather and the chance to take long walk with my hubby and dog.

My favorite exercises right now are spin and swimming.  I'm thankful to be able to still workout a lot, though my endurance has lessened a lot.  Most days I can do a full spin class, but some day I have to leave after 30 minutes.  I usually swim for 30 minutes 2-3 times a week.

I also found this website today and thought y'all might be interested https://plussizebirth.com/2014/03/how-much-weight-do-pregnant-women-gain.htm
