Gender ultrasound tips

Sorry if someone has already posted this topic... I will be 16 weeks tomorrow and I am having an elective ultrasound tomorrow to find out the gender. I know there's a chance that the baby could be sleeping or in a bad position to see the sex. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? My Dr. Didn't tell me anything to do or drink before the appointment but I have heard to drink a lot of water before, and that orange juice helps get the baby moving... Thanks!!

  • My place told me to drink plenty of water & bring juice with me. They didn't want me to drink it ahead in case the baby was already active enough. I'd call for their recommendation.

  • Yeah it depends - some want it full some not. For my NT scan they wanted it empty. For my early anatomy scan - they also wanted it empty....

  • The place I went said to drink 64oz water every day for the week prior, have a full bladder, and eat right before it. I also drank oj right beforehand because I heard from friends that it helps. Our little girl was very active and we got the perfect shot to determine the gender :)
  • Thank you ladies!! I will call and see. If not I might just try drinking a bottle of water and maybe some oj before:)
  • i also recommend calling to ask. they don't mind the question. my doc did not want me to drink anything in particular, or in any excessive amount. he also did not mention bringing juice with me to the appointment.
