Laugh and learn Dvds?

I was speaking with my doctor and asking her about her recommendations of prepared childbirth classes, etc and if I should sign up for the ones offered through the hospital (which cost up to $150+). She actually mentioned a DVD series called Laugh and Learn. I looked up the website and read a bunch of reviews. Seems decent. Any STMs or ladies familiar with this series or others? I am not an "all natural" kind of gal - so looking for something comprehensive that discusses a mix of non and interventional techniques. Thanks.

Re: Laugh and learn Dvds?

  • I did these with my first, but only because I was on bed rest and couldn't attend actual classes. I would really encourage you to at least attend some sort of a breast feeding class and birthing class in person and then use these as backups. We really did enjoy them in terms of newborn care, breast feeding, and even the birthing ones, but I wish I could have done an in person class for the birthing class.

From what I remember from the birthing series she does an amazing job of covering a variety of birth options, interventions, c-sections, etc. It was informative, but I still think it would have been better to have someone in person teaching the breathing, etc.

  • I likes having the ability to ask questions, i took the breastfeeding class and the hospital tour.  But I also had a great nurse during delivery so she helped me through anything I didn't understand.
