3rd baby and wanting to go into labor on my own after two inductions

Have any moms been able to go into labor on there own after being induced with previous babies? I really want to experience it with this being my last pregnancy.

  • I am guessing it depends on the reasons for your inductions.

This. Every pregnancy is different so I guess there's not any sure fire way to get you into labor naturally.

My friend was induced with her first, then after failed induction/failure to progress she had a C-section. She just had her 2nd, she went into labor on her own, no Pitocin, and had a successful VBAC. She delivered 10 days before her due date.

  • I got induced with #1 for being a few days late, #2 showed up on her own a week early.  Guess it just depends on the pregnancy.

  • Thanks everyone, just trying to stay optimistic about it. My doctor just informed me that if the baby is over 8lbs I will have to have a C-section due to complications delivering my pervious two babies. I'm thinking I will probably be having a C-section now. My daughter was 7lbs 3oz and my son was 8lbs 5oz and from what I have heard they get larger usually.

I would personally opt to be induced over having a c-section. I have never heard babies usually get bigger with each pregnancy.
  • I was induced with my first at 41.5 weeks and was very unhappy about it.  Of course labor didn't progress well and had heart rate issues so they threatened emergency C-section but I was able to have a vaginal delivery at the end of the day with a healthy 8lb12oz DS.
With second baby the threatened induction every day and I prevailed and finally went into labor on my own at 42 weeks.  I had to stay away from the hospital and be at home most of the day to really let my labor progress naturally.  I was given all the threats about large babies and low amniotic fluid, etc, but I had previously been told by my former OBGYN that even though babies gain weight in their bodies in the later pregnancy stages that their heads don't get bigger, and the head is the biggest part to get through the birth canal.
I gave birth naturally to 8lb10oz boy, SO much better without pitocin, IV drips, etc.  I was walking to the toilet to pee all by myself only 25 mins after giving birth.   Pregnant with third now and planning on not being induced.

  • If and or when we have #3 I will be hoping for the same OP. I was induced at 40 weeks 4 days with #1...I had been having BP issues and been in prodormal labor for 2 weeks. He ended up surprising all of us and was 10 lbs 1 oz. With #2 my OB didn't want to risk a bigger baby so I was induced at 39w4d...he was 9 lbs 13 oz. Delivery was a breeze with #2. I want to have the going into labor by myself experience...will see if DH is on board with #3 in the future.
