Flowers

So spring is here, well almost.

Do you plant any flowers? If so what kind?

I planted some tulips and hyacinths and the hostas I planted last year are coming up.

I want to plant more tulips and some petunias but H is already upset that I bought so many flowers last week.

I cant help it, I love the way they look and smell.

Re: Flowers

  • We have daffodils, 4 peony bushes, 6 rose of sharon bushes, two live forever's, 2 rose bushes, 4 mums, and some grassy plants that were there when we moved in.

All of these come back every year so Really we just took a hit when we moved in! LOL i just told DH they would only cost us one time :)

That's great @jackofthebox. I have 3 peony bushes in our back yard. They smell so great but they don't last for a long time.

H was upset and said I spend over $50 each year on flowers. He said I am turning our yard into a nursery. Its really not that many flowers and theyre all perennial.

I think I am obsessed with hyacinths. They smell so great.

I have tulips (white, yellow and red), hyacinths (pink, purple and white), few hosta plants, few dianthus plants, and 3 or 4 mini rose bushes and a John F Kennedy Rose.

They all come back year after year but I keep adding tulips and hyacinths.

  • We have a lilac tree in our backyard- it blooms every year, I can't wait! I LOVE the smell.

Otherwise, no.. that's all.  We're more into planting veggies over flowers.

  • We're waiting to see what pops up in the garden (we're in a new house this s.) Regardless I'm planning on tulips, daffodils, & this one I don't know the name of but the flowers are bell shaped. We planted that in the last house & they were gorgeous. Plus whatever catches my eye when we go shopping for them.

    Is it these?

We are going to home depot either tonight or tomorrow night we are getting new patio doors!! I am also going to talk DH into a new porch light lol. I will try to stay out of the plants.... TRY.
  • It will be hard to walk out without flowers @jackofthebox. I went last week to buy soil that was on sale and walked out with $60 worth of flowers.

    :\">

@bostonkisses2 they should be coming out now so if you see it just yank the bulb out.

  • I have three rose bushes in the back yard and one large on in the front yard. Since LO is so little I dont really have time to garden (yet) so everything is self maintaining for the time being.

  • My dh only likes evergreen so all we have is bushing around our house but I love my dogwood that just bloomed.

  • @tittsmcgee went westlakes last night and caught the hyacinth flowers on sale for 47 cents!! They only had 3 but i bought all three LOL. Your right they smell so good. I also bought some tulips and started working on my garden spot (where the tree use to be!).

    Wow that is cheap.

That sounds great, you can add some daffodils too. I have a flower bed that has tulips in the middle and daffodils and hyacinths on the side.
