Re: CPW: Your baby name style

  • Keeping it in the family with a modern twist. You'll understand what that means soon.

  • I'm not sure where I fit; though I'm mainly French Canadian, my mother was anglophone and so ideally, our main focus is that we should be able to pronounce the baby's name in both French and English. That said, we don't necessarily need to stick to classical names; we have a few modern ones being tossed around too.

I chose "sticking to my heritage" since it made the most sense to that explanation.

  • I'm a mix...classic and traditional, but we also pick at least one family name, and all of our names have ended up being biblical as well. Oops :)

DS1 is Noah Thomas (Noah was just a name we both liked a lot, and Thomas is DH's and DH's dad's middle name).

DS2 is going to be Lucas William (Lucas is the male version of Lucy which is my first name that I don't go by, and also my maternal grandmother's name who died before I was born, and William is my dad and grandfather's middle name).

  • Our LO's name will be Anabelle Rose, classic. But the 1 "n" is a subtle nod to my Hispanic heritage. The American spelling is usually 2 n's.

  • I picked classic/traditional: Benjamin Grant.  Benjamin is just a name I always liked (and my wife fortunately also liked), and Grant is my MIL's maiden name (we wanted to work my wife's family in there because he'll have my last name).

  • I went with special snowflake since I don't fall neatly into those categories.  I want a classic-ish name, but not a common one.  We have a rather common last name, so I'd like to give my kids first names that are unique, but not crazy-cakes.  I like Cecilia and Violet for a girl, and I like Anderson for a boy.  We have a running list of names we come across that we like, so far those 3 are the top contenders.

  • Ours is a mix of Classic and Traditional and Family.  DS1's first name is after DH's grandfather and his middle name is my dad and brother's name (Vincent Daniel).  DS2's first name is a family name, but we just really loved Owen.  His  MN is DH's name (David).  Baby girl will be named Claire which is not a family name, just one we liked.  I think it's classic and traditional though.  Her MN will be Suzette after my MIL that passed away.

  • Our main focus is a name that can be pronounced in English and Spanish to accomodate both of our families.  It turned out Biblical as well.

  • I think I'm a good mixture of classic/traditional, unique, & family... We haven't gotten too crazy into talking names yet but we definitely want a family middle name.  I think we'll toss some names around, but not get too serious until we know what team we're on.
