Tell me how you did it....

Today is my first day back at work, and DD's first day at her daycare.  I cried all day and night, on and off yesterday in preparation for today.  Dropping her off this morning I was ok, but right now I am a wreck.  I just want to call and make sure they're changing her diaper, feeding her on time, showing her attention, and etc. I am so anxious, nervous, worried, and missing the hell out of her.

I guess I never realized how hard it would be to leave my little baby at six weeks old.

So tell me ladies, even if you aren't working.  How did you deal with it the first time you had to leave LO?  If you had to drop LO off at daycare (or where ever), how did you handle the day, did you call, did you do things that helped?

Words of encouragement are being accepted lol :)

@djtippietoes , I feel like if I keep calling that they'll think I am crazy, and obsessed lol.

ETA: How was his first day?!
  • It's the hardest thing but I'm sure you've carefully selected your DC provider. Just remember that you liked them and thought they were qualified. Call to check in in the am and pm. And remember that your working provides for our LO. Hopefully that gives you comfort. It does get easier!!
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • Call if you want to! I'm sure it happens all the time on kids first days.

Good luck! And it went fine for us.
  • I went back to work yesterday as well, and definitely cried last weekend because of it. I feel your pain!! It was especially hard with her 2 month pedi appointment and shots yesterday and I wasn't there for it. My DH is home with her this week and I definitely called and texted a couple times and came home on my lunch break to see LO and nurse. They say it gets easier and I hope that's true!
  • I called or texted every single day DS1 was in daycare (now 21m), and prob will with this one, too. It helped me get through my day, and the DCPs were more than happy to let me know how his day was going.

  • Aww im sorry :( we had our girls on the same day, so I can imagine how hard it would be going back today. No advice, since Im not back yet, but Im sure your LO will be fine. Everyone says its harder on the mom. Good luck!!! And call, who cares if they get annoyed, it will help you get through the day. Hugs!

I called on the first day at lunch and it helped. We also get a daily sheet with feedings and diaper changes and a little bit about their day. If your DC has this, it helped me have an idea of how her day went.

  • Thanks ladies!!!! :)
  • Thank you everyone for sharing! The highlight of my day was when I picked her up from Daycare not only because I missed her. But when I picked her up, and she heard and saw me, and she let out this HUGE smile! It's amazing how our babies can just know and tell who their mommys are.
It's the best feeling in the world!! So glad you made it through your day -- how many times did you call? :)

@noelmariefrey - LOL good! I think they expect it from new moms/dads in the beginning. So glad you made it -- I have my first FULL week next week, and I'm already dreading it. We will prevail!!

  • @Codypup Good luck :) I thankfully have half days  during the week, so it isn't too bad.
