at work...pump is at home :(

So I didn't forget the whole pump but just got to the mother's room and realized I don't have the white flappy things for my pump. It is essentially a door stop without those! I live 45 min away from work so going home isn't an option...I think I am going to try amd hand express but any ideas that maybe I haven't thought of would be welcome!!!

Re: at work...pump is at home :(

  • What pump do you have?  I know Medela and Ameda valves are usually sold at the stores.  I think the Ameda valves would work on a Hygeia pump but have not attempted it. Is there a BRU, Target or similar store near where you work?  I keep a manual pump at work as a back up in case I forget my pump or one of the valves rip.

  • Run out and buy a cheap manual pump?
  • Are you really close to a target or babies r us? I know they sell membranes there

  • Are you in a local breastfeeding or parenting group on FB? I've seen women post on my local groups and got responses from people who were available to pick up missing parts and drop off.

  • I forgot my pump once and am close to NOTHING at work.  I hand expressed a couple times throughout the day for relief and to get SOMETHING.  I ended up getting 8oz, which is almost 50% of my normal output.  It worked for the day.  I got something and wasn't miserable.  My boobs were bright red and my thumbs were sore, though.

  • Sorry!  I had a dream last night that I forgot my pump and lived too far to turn around and get it.

  • Im sorry you forgot your parts. I only packed one flange today I know your pain.
  • Thank you all for your advice! I wasn't able to get to a store but I was able to hand express. Ended up with about 7 oz for the day, so I was able to not be so uncomfortable and it wasn't a total loss for the day. Anyway, I don't recommend it, now my boobs are SORE!
