Ear Tubes falling out

Probably more for the second time moms. Did you find the tubes when they fell out? At Leo's 18mo check up today, the doctor said his left tube was out and just floating around (something like that lol). So now I am on the look out for it and am a little scared he is going to eat it.

Re: Ear Tubes falling out

  • Wow, isn't that early? They are so small, I wouldn't even be worried he would see it.

One of DS tubes fell out when he was about 2. The other is still in. Anyway, after the pedi told me that it had come out of place, I could pull his ear back and look look in there and see it hanging around. His was surrounded by ear wax and took a really long time to actually come out. We just left it be and one morning he was sitting on the table while I was putting his jacket on and I heard something drop on the table. It was sooo teeny tiny I don't know that I would have ever noticed if I hadn't heard it and may not have found it if it wasn't covered in a ball of ear wax.

ETA: The tube itself was white.
  • We are sitting at the ENT now for ANOTHER GD ear infection. At Mason's 18 month check a couple weeks ago his Pedi mentioned that both tubes had fallen out and are just sitting in the ear canal. DD's are both still in. Crazy! Anyway, his Pedi said that they are so small they usually fall out of the canal at night when they are laying down and they are so small you'd almost never see it.

A little early but since we made it to spring, he doesn't think we will need to get another one put in.
