How much to tell at work?

I started a new job a couple wks ago where I am on my feet the entire time. There is also occasional lifting but my dr hasn't given me any restrictions on that. I have gestational diabetes and they usually give me break every 2-3 hours but not always. I haven't told them I am pregnant yet. How would you recommend doing this? Also, For safety reasons should I tell them about the diabetes?

Definitely tell them about both. That way if something happens they can take the proper actions to make sure you and baby are okay.

This. No reason not to tell them.

  • Thanks everyone, I wish I had said something at orientation bc now it's just awkward. I haven't been trying to hide it or anything but they probably just think in fat. I've told a couple co- workers so I guess next step is just telling the higher up folks.

Definitely let higher ups know!  Especially if your colleagues are finding out.  It's best that your managers hear from you instead of rumors.

I am actually really surprised by how accommodating my boss and his boss are.  I think most employers want to keep people happy while they are pregnant to ensure that they actually come back after maternity leave so they are willing to make concessions for you.
