Hi everyone! I'm hoping you all can give me some advice on what to do here ... We're having a relatively large (50-60 people) party for my daughter's birthday and I'm feeling like it's a lot to ask to make everyone sit through her opening presents. How have you all handled similar situations? Do I just have her go for it and open them all no matter what? Do I have her open a select few for posterity sake? Having a hard time coming up with what I think seems right ... Thanks for the help!

With my son's first birthday, we opened gifts at the party. There were only a couple little kids there, so it worked out ok. Plus it was at home. But I just went to a 3 yo party, where there were 8 other 3 yo's. Opening gifts in front of the kids was not fun for them at all. So based on that, we didn't open gifts at the combined 3 yo and 1 yo party. It was a good decision, because we just didn't have time. The party was at a park and there was another party starting right after ours and we just didn't have the extra time. How did I address it? I just kind of brought it up in conversation, that after the last party, I decided it wasn't worth trying to open gifts there. I didn't want to upset the little's. No one missed the gift opening as far as I can tell.
I have to get the thank you notes out ASAP though!
