Cloth Diapering

poop question

EBF/EFF poop doesn't need to be sprayed.  Solids poop does.

But does that mean, if I mash up a bit of avocado and let her lick it off my finger, then I need to spray all of her poop?  If not, then how much solid food do I need to feed her before I need to spray?  Where's the line?

Re: poop question

  • You'll know when it's time to start spraying.  The consistency changes to something more like peanut butter.  In other words, when you look at it & say "no way I'm putting that in my washer", then it's time to start spraying.  ;)

  • You will be able to tell. The consistency will be very different from EBF poop. A lick of avocado will not be enough to change consistency.

    hahaha - OK.

I wasn't sure if there was more to it or not - like "after you eat something, your poop is no longer water soluble" or has too many chemicals or whatever....
  • I'm so not looking forward to this, except that trifolding will be less risky. Two more months!

    I am and I'm not.

I've had HUGE milk supply issues, so having her on solids will hopefully reduce the amount of formula she gets.

I'm not looking forward to stinky poop.

I am looking forward to being able to trifold and hopefully have less blow-outs (this kid is a super-pooper!  I can only imagine the damage she would have done in sposies!)

I'm going to wait until she's sitting up on her own, but she's actually coming really close already.  I think it will be a matter of weeks instead of months.  She already shows a TON of interest in our food.  I know she's gonna love eating, and I can't wait to see that look on her face.

Not looking forward to the mess she's gonna make - lol.  Baby eating is so messy.
  • A little bit,  you may not need to spray. My lo had a bunch of solids this weekend cause I was gone. And I got the diaper. Yeah, it was an immediate omg, what just came out of my kids butt?

  • For a diaper board, we have surprisingly few poop posts.

Hopefully your LO will get to the ploppable stage quickly and you won't have to worry about the pb yuck stage for long.

You may get lucky. When we started solids it totally threw off DS's system and for almost 2 months he only pooped once a week. Ever since he has been more regular and his poop has been plopable and it is awesome. We scraped the PB poop and so have never had to spray.
