Re: Weekly Exercise Thread

  • Week: Week 34
    Exercise Log:
Monday, 3/31: 1 hour body pump
    Tuesday, 4/1: 1 hour kickboxing
Wednesday, 4/2: 2 mile walk/run with the dog
    Thursday: Off
    Friday: 1 hour cardio blast
Saturday: Walked the city of Baltimore (at least 4 miles)
Sunday: Walked the city of Baltimore (at least 2 miles)
Rants/Raves: Rant: This belly is really starting to make working out difficult - whether its jumping jacks; modified burpies; running, etc. - its becoming uncomfortable. Rave: My baby shower is this weekend! My mom is coming into town as well as DH's family. I can't wait to see everyone!
Goals for this Week:  Hit the gym a few days. I know it will be tough since I'm working 10 hour days this week at work (M-Thurs) and family will be in town.
GTYK: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go! Mango and cantaloupe. Guilty indulgence the past week has been the Happy Birthday flavored Oreos....I almost feel guilty.

  • Week: 32
Exercise Log: Strength training Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun. Cardio on Saturday only.
Rants/Raves: Rants: I had a super long, frustrating week at work last week so I missed any and all exercise Wed-Fri and I had HORRIBLE swelling to boot those 3 days. My calves and ankles were just so bad. Once I was able to rest this weekend, I had zero swelling issues. Raves: Had a great weekend with lots of quality time with DS1 and DH. Also had a dinner with my IL's to celebrate this LO and got some much-needed essentials for this baby as well as a very generous gift card to Target to help purchase anything else we may need.
Goals for this Week: I'm not sure yet. I am in major cram mode for an exam that I have on Saturday so I really need to be studying first and foremost, but I am going to try and fit in a few days of strength training anyway. It's supposed to rain here today and tomorrow so I won't be able to get any cardio in until at least Wednesday.
GTYK: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go!
Just about everything. I am starving all the time. Mostly chocolate and/or candy.

  • Week: 32
Exercise Log: I only one workout last week, but I was very active around the house.
Rant: I'm exhausted and unmotivated, and these BH contrax are outta control. Doc says they're unproductive and I just have to deal, but I'm not comfortable working out while I'm having them.
Rave: I've still only gained 4 lbs! (I'm only allowed 10)
Goals for this Week: 3 workouts, even if they're short
GTKY: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go!: Fresh fruit. All other food sucks right now and makes me sick.

  • Week: 31/32 weeks

    Exercise Log:
    Monday - 30 minute walk
    Tuesday -
    Wednesday - 30 minute walk
    Thursday - 45 minute walk
Friday - The nesting bug came on strong and I decided to re-organize the kitchen cabinets - that was a work out for me.
    Saturday -
    Sunday -

Rants/Raves:  Rants - I wish I was more active over the weekend, but we had rainy, gloomy weather which was well suited for painting the nursery and trips out to stock up on baby diapers.  Raves - Hubby has the primer and wall mud up in the nursery.  One more coat of primer and then we are in business to paint!  I will be nesting the hell outta that room in no time!  Also, last week was "spring break" so we had no prenatal yoga, very excited to get back to yoga this week.

Goals for this Week: The weather is supposed to be amazing.  No excuses to not walk at lunch time everyday.

GTYK: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go! Granola and greek yogurt with fresh strawberries, fresh strawberries, coconut rice, and Pellegrino blood orange soda.

Are you starting to notice any difference in how you feel after walking? We went on the same walk we always do this last Sunday (about 3 miles), but about 2 miles in I definitely knew we're going to have to curtail it moving forward. I have not felt my ute get tight like that up to this point, but I did not like that at all.

Note: I have not had this same issue with my other exercise. Maybe it's because it's shorter bursts and less repetitive movement than my slowass walking? I find it weird that it's only the walking that has hit me like that, but weights/toning still feels fine. I'll take what I can get.

  • Week: 36w
    Exercise Log:
Monday- 3.5 mile run, 10 min elliptical, weights abs
Wednesday- 3.5 mile run, 10 min elliptical
Friday- 3.5 mile run, 10 min elliptical, weights, abs
Rants/Raves: Raves: I am still running and my doctor said as long as I am able to do so without pain, I can continue. Rants: I have this muscle pain under my rib and my doctor says it's due to baby moving and stretching. It's fine when I'm standing or moving around, but so painful when I'm just sitting on the couch.
Goals for this Week: Start to eat healthier now that I am home all day before LO arrives. Going to try and cook more healthy meals for DH and myself.
GTYK: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go! Anything with sugar. I've been on this candy, chocolate, cupcake kick. I have been like this normally, but even moreso the past 2 weeks. ugh!

    Week: 34 weeks

Exercise Log: I've pretty much given up on the gym, but been keeping up on walking almost every day.

Rants/Raves:  Rants - I am getting way too tired to do anything.  I have been eating horribly lately because I just don't have it in me to cook.  Raves - We went on a weekend getaway and stayed in a quirky little inn in Hot Springs.  We went to the horse races, did tons of walking, shopping, eating, and had a couples prenatal massage.  It was awesome.

Goals for this Week: I say I am done with the gym, but I really am planning to go back this week and see how it goes.  Regardless, I'm going to walk the dog as much as possible.

GTYK: Recent food(s) you can't seem to get enough of...and go! Chocolate

  • @pandadair - I still feel fine walking long distances. Occasionally, I'll get lightening crotch or what feels to me like a runner's cramp on the sides of my abdomen. I feel fine afterwards too. Maybe it's BH? I'm a FTM and I have yet to experience BH unless that's what my "runner's cramp" is....eh, sorry, I'm not much help.

For me, I keep doing things as long as the uncomfortable-ness is tolerable and not painful. Does that make sense?

Probably BH, but it freaked me out since they say to walk to help bring on labor and I really don't want little guy coming before his due date. Will just have to ask my OB, because I'm still feeling "different" down there 2 days later. Damn exercise!

  • @pandadair this happens to me with walking as well. And ONLY with walking it seems. We walk in our neighborhood and usually I can handle at least 2 miles but lately, every time we talk, my stomach gets so hard that it's really uncomfortable and we end up cutting it short. We only go walking in the evenings, so it ends up staying like that the whole evening and then I "sleep it off" so to speak. I can only assume it is BH related but I swear it ONLY happens when I do any walking. I strength train usually 5 times a week and this never happens during that.
