Workout check in

We haven't done one of these in awhile. How is everyone doing with their goals? Is the (slowly) improving weather leading to any increased activity? I am proud that I ran the almost 3 mile loop around my neighborhood last week without stopping. I like to exercise but typically hate running, so I haven't run a step since last August. We set out for a dorky family run (me, DH, 15 yr old DSS, and DS in the jogging stroller) and I said I probably wouldn't make it and would catch up. But I think having DH chatting with me the whole time helped. Not only did I finish but it was easy! I'm thinking pre-dinner runs should be a thing this summer. The weather is hit or miss lately. I hope by the time I get back from my trip it is solidly spring temps.

Re: Workout check in

  • I've been on and off for the last month or so but am trying to get back into a good routine. Got up to workout this morning even though DS was up almost every hour last night. So I'm happy about that. Now I just need to get my eating in order...

I was below my goal weight before my recent wishy washyness. I think I've put a couple lbs back on. I need to lose them before having visitors later this month!

  • I told DH this morning that we should be in perfect shape just as a reward for getting our asses out of bed at 5:15 every day to workout.  We shouldnt have to then actually exercise and eat right too! Jeesh.

  • @BluepointToasted Way to go!! I'm jealous! I got really into running for a while and was making awesome progress (I was up to doing 6mi runs, with walk breaks)...then I got pregnant with DS and my morning sickness alone caused me to stop. I'd love to get back into it though.

I havent really worked out all that much since rolling my ankle pretty hard on Friday. I've got a lot of residual soreness and some nasty bruising on that foot now. I'm thinking of trying my workout today, bc I'm craving a good sweat session.

  • I have a Nike Fuel Band that is keeping me motivated to stay active everyday. It's a good reminder to get up and move on those days that I get stuck at my desk at lunchtime. I try to do body pump MWF on my lunch and workout on my elliptical after DD's bedtime on T-Th. I just bought a new elliptical and it arrived last week (my old one was crappy) so I am pumped to try it out.

I just need to stop drinking wine and eating chips& mini eggs before bed and I'd be good.... sigh
  • I think this is my first check in.

I ran a 5k on Saturday and I really impressed myself.  I did a combo of jogging and walking and finished it in less than 45 minutes.  From someone who stepped on a treadmill for the first time two weeks ago, i'm happy with that time.  I think the fact that it was a novelty 5k (run or dye) really helped because while it fucking sucked running, the whole getting dye thrown at me and partying after was fun.

I've been slacking at the gym lately with being sick but I'm going to try to make it everyday for the next week.  I had such a great time at that 5k that I signed up for a mud obstacle 5k in June with my friends.  That I know I need to train for and I'm looking forward to it.  Ideally, I'd like to do at least one 5k a month and work up to running the entire thing because I think having that sort of goal is motivating for me.

  • Can I hire one of y'all to call me every morning at 5, and yell at me until I get up and workout? I'll pay you in compliments and love tits. But seriously, I cannot drag my ass out of bed lately, not matter how early I go to sleep.

  • @ReeseFox‌ when you find someone to be your workout alarm clock, will you please send them my way? IDK what my issue is...my kid doesn't wake up til about 8-8:30 am, there should be no problem for me to get up before him to have coffee and work out. It still never seems to happen though.

Although, I did just do my T25 workout while he was eating breakfast before, so thats a win for me!!

  • went to the gym.  did yoga, leg day, and ran straight for a half mile.  pretty fucking proud of myself, especially running after doing legs.

side note: my shins were feeling funny since the 5k and today I decided to run in my vibrams instead of my pumas.  so. much. better.  guess i'll be the weirdo at the gym in those.

  • Pluggin' away.. down 3.6 lbs this week. Walked 3.25 miles outside today since the weather is nice- upper 50's and sunshine (gasp!) Have lost 6 lbs with another 40 to go!

  • @PrivacyWanted- way to go! Have you started marathon training yet? My sister is running her fourth this summer in Hawaii and she's been logging crazy miles..
  • Started back up again this week now that my knee is better and my cold is gone. Plus DD starts 2 new classes this week that are at the rec centre, so I really have no excuse. Baby went to the childcare area today and I went on the treadmill. I think I'll swim next time though. Can't wait for all the snow to be gone so we can get outside more!
