Were you able to wear contacts during your csection?

I have a planned csection for Thursday (4/10) and just thought about whether or not I'll be able to wear my contacts. I wear hard contacts because I have a cornea disease and they reshape my corneas so I can see. Glasses do absolutely nothing to help me see. I'm hoping I'll be able to wear them so I can see my baby! My vision is very blurry without them.

    Yes I did. I wear soft contacts, though. The anesthesiologist's only concern was if I needed to be put under general anesthesia would they hurt or damage my eye. I told him I don't sleep in them overnight, but that I nap in them for a few hours no problem. He was fine with that.

    I have terrible eyesight as well and my glasses are thick and uncomfortable. I would have been pretty upset if I hadn't been allowed to wear my contacts.

    I'd ask your OB and if she/he doesn't know request a consult with anesthesia to explain your situation. Good luck!

    I wear soft contacts so it might be different but I almost had an emergency c-section a couple of weeks ago and no one mentioned contacts (and they were about 5 minutes from wheeling me down to the OR). I guess I should ask just in case!

    I had a c-section Friday and was able to wear mine. I let them know I had them and they said it was fine.

    That is crazy. I would literally not be able to see without my contacts or glasses (Lens prescription is +5.5). They might as well put me under general anesthesia if that were the case. I probably would have worn my contacts anyway if they tried to tell me that. The whole point of being awake for the surgery is so you can SEE your baby, right?

    I've had 2 CSs now and have been able to wear contacts (soft...but no one asked what kind), jewelry, and nail polish for both. Might ask your OB though as it seems these rules vary by hospital or anesthesiologist policy.

    I have soft contacts, but they weren't a problem with my DD's c-s. Hope it's not an issue this time either. My prescription is 9.5, so I REALLY need them!

    I'm having a c-section tomorrow and was told no contacts... I'm going to make DH hold onto my glasses so I can see LO (otherwise I can only see colors, not shapes lol)

    That happened to me with my first born. One of the nurses had my glasses in her pocket and didn't think to give them back to me. I literally didn't see the baby for an hour until they found them and gave them back to me. Make sure you ask your doctor cause it seriously pissed me off about my delivery.

    With DS they said no. I wore my glasses. Luckily I've had LASIK since then so I didn't have to worry about it this time.

    I can't see why glasses would be an issue, I wear glasses all the time in theatre! They are easily removed if they needed to be! Frankly I would refuse to remove them for the same reason, cant see anything without them!

    Contacts... Not sure about those, definitely talk to you dr about them. They tend to be super safe with things so if anything does go wrong (highly unlikely) then it is easier for the Drs to deal with. Thats why no jewellery and stuff...

    I honestly have no idea but I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you labor buddy!!! I can't wait to tell everyone when Wyatt gets here :)
