One & Done: Only child

Is this tacky?

So the board is dead sorry about all the posts.

My son's birthday is the 20th and his party will be saturday the 19th. We are only inviting family (small) and a couple of my closest friends. Would it be ok to make an event on facebook and invite them that way? And then i could follow up with a phone call/ text.

Re: Is this tacky?

  • No that's what we did for DD's party this coming Sunday. Our older family members we sent a dollar store invitation so they could put it on their fridge and calendar. We'll call Saturday to remind/confirm.

  • As a graphic designer, I can tell you that it is mostly only people like me that hate e-vites on FB and want a real, original invitation (so we can critique that, too). It's fine for the other 98% of people.

  • That's what we did for LO's first bday and that's what we'll do for his next.  I don't think we'll do actual invites until he's older and is inviting kids at school.

LOL i think my group falls into the 98% of people! Last year i did photo invites from shutterfly. They were adorable but expensive.
  • I think it'd be fine. How many people are you inviting? Tackier than you I think, was my lack of invite. Instead, I just called everyone to let them know what day it was, lol. Oops.

  • I did a save the date on Facebook and will send out paper invites. But it is her first and it is a big deal ( at least to me). But I see nothing wrong with it.

  • For a small amount of close family? It depends on the family... in ours- 100% fine, and I would do it.  We have a family that follows almost zero% etiquette.  Just wouldn't bother anyone if it were done that way.  Paper = waste.
