GTT question

I failed the 1-hour GTT pretty spectacularly.   (I did last time as well, but not as high.  I wound up passing the 3-hour then.)   I am on low-dose aspirin for hypertension and pre-e risk (I was induced last year for hypertension).  My BP has been great this time around.   I did not stop taking the aspirin prior to the GTT.  I am now being told that the aspirin may have affected my number.  Does anyone have experience with this?  The issue I am having is that I'm getting different stories from different people involved.  My OB practice said they weren't sure and to ask the lab, and the lab said they weren't sure and to ask my doctors, and so on and so on.

Anyone know?  I want to make sure I am doing everything right so my numbers are accurate.  It would be a shame to be misdiagnosed one way or the other.

    Who said aspirin may have affected your number? If anything, it should lower your glucose…but the literature says that takes a huge dose, so probably not. How big was your son at birth? I mean, honestly, if I failed the 1-hour, especially twice, I would just operate as if I had GD (monitor glucose levels and carbs) to keep the baby safe. I had GD last pregnancy and I'm pre-pre-diabetic, so I'm not even going to do the GTT this time around. I've been watching my carbs and sugars for months, so it's old hat. Sucks, but at least the baby should be healthy.

    One of the midwives at my practice told me it affected the number.  But then I got the runaround.

    My son was 7 lbs at birth (40 weeks 2 days).  

    Last year I failed the 1 hour by a few points.  This time, quite a few more than that.   I'm going to operate under the assumption I have it and maybe the 3hr will say otherwise, but I am not counting on it.

    What stinks is that I keep getting different rules from the same practice.  Some said I could drink water before (and during).  Some said the water would lower the numbers so not to drink it.  Some said the water wouldn't affect the numbers at all.    I take thyroid medication (synthroid) and usually have to take it every morning with 8oz of water.  One doctor told me to only take a sip of water with the medication.  Another told me to take the usual 8ozs.    It's just confusing!   I am not sure how water would lower the number but I don't want to take a chance of a false negative.

    Blergh, I dunno. There are so many differing opinions, but I don't know that I would trust something that technical (about the aspirin) from somebody who's not a doctor. Speaking of UOs from non-doctors (haha), they say that water can affect it, but I think that's just absolute BS. If you're gonna fail, water isn't going to save you. And if it did, hey! Just drink a bunch of water with everything and you'll never get a sugar spike! ;)

    ETA: Oh, and that's awesome about your son. You obviously didn't have very bad GD! My DD was 7 lbs 11 oz at 39 weeks, but she's still at the 95th percentile for height, so that could be part of it.
