Did you know...

Hubby and I went to first delivery prep class tonight at hospital, and I learned something I had never been told before. This is baby #3 for me.
If you hold and slightly lift your belly as you squat to sit on the potty, it helps you drain your bladder better, so you can go a "little" bit longer between potty breaks.
I thought this was a great suggestion/trick.
Anybody else have any good tricks you've learned or heard to help ease some pregnancy symptoms your having?

Re: Did you know...

  • Lemon water keeps me from swelling. If I don't drink enough and my feet do swell and get that tight, hot feeling putting them in cold water feels like heaven and brings the swelling right down.

Not really a trick but Cake nursing bras are hands down the most comfortable bras I've ever worn. It's like I'm not even wearing one but I still get the support to keep my newly huge boobs from smothering me in my sleep. It's also tight enough to help with the soreness I get sometimes.

I've started squatting/standing over the toilet after my flow stops. You won't believe how much pee is left in there.

  • Ice water for acid reflux. One of my friends had me try it, and it totally worked. I had 2 glasses of it.
  • Water and bananas both make my heartburn worse, our bodies are all so different! ;). But I'm totally going to try the celery thing, and then Tylenol for my restless legs! Thx!!

  • Ice water, bananas, almonds and almond milk didn't work for me for heartburn. I REALLY wish I didn't despise celery! Guess I am sticking with Zantac.

  • Skim milk helps my acid reflux but only if I can catch it early.
  • i posted this a few days ago in the daily symptems thread, but a tablespoon or two of natural/organic apple cider vinegar really helps with heartburn.  it sounds weird to take something so acidic to help heartburn but it really works!

My mom swears by this trick;I've tried it also and think it works good too.

  • If I lean back on the toilet, it helps with pooping... I figure it has something to do with allowing the intestines/colon to open up and allow the bm to move through.

@lellymine‌ but which kind of cake nursing bras? Do they seem true to size? I hate ordering bras online :-(

  • I've used whole milk through all three pregnancies for heart burn and it works everytime. Has to be whole milk though any other percentage just doesn't cut it.

My favorite is the cotton candy bra. It's just small, medium and large sizing. I'd probably size down in it though. I went with what the sizing chart said and it does fit great but sometime I wish it were a little tighter when I'm feeling sore.
  • If anyone is having a c section (I have to) a good friend was telling me how much trouble she had peeing after the surgery and the nurses said they would have to put the catheter back in if she couldn't go. A nice nurse brought her a wide straw and said 'blow on this while your in the bathroom' and as soon as she did she peed. I guess it somehow forces you to release. I have straws already packed in my hospital bag just in case :-)

Does the bra keep your boobs separated? It looks really comfortable, but I'm worried about a uni-boob (I'm about a 36DD pre-pregnancy... probably a 38DDD/E now).
It does unless I'm being pretty active. Just around the house or to sleep in it's perfect. I'm a DD.

  • A little calf massage before bed also helps with restless legs. I had it pre-preg and none of the tricks I used to use work while pregnant, at least for me :(

It's also a good excuse for a massage from DH! We use a Lush massage bar and just do 2 or 3 minutes on each leg from the knee down. Some stretching can also help too.

  • If I eat carbs before bed I feel restless legs bad and itching. My mom has the same thing. Maybe it's the carbs turning into sugar and energy? But regardless, staying away helps :)
