Won't take right side - help!

My baby is 12 days old & I'm really struggling to get her to nurse on my right side. I have a nipple shield & it seems like we'll have 1 good day followed by 1 or 2 days where she flips out and cries frantically like I'm torturing her when I try that side. I've pumped a few times on the days she won't nurse. I'm able to get milk so I know it's there. I have noticed that there seems to be a somewhat hard lump directly under that nipple. Sorry this is so long - I'm so frustrated and looking for any advice

  • Have you tried pumping for 1 or 2 minutes on that side then offering it to her? She might not have the patience if your let down on that side is not as rapid on the left, pumping will make it so the milk is flowing immediately. My LO prefers the right as well. Sometimes I offer the left she refuses, I wait 5 minutes and then she is willing to try again since she has realized it is left or nothing. Good luck!
