Picky napping baby

After 40 minutes of trying to get him to sleep in the pack and play, on me, on a boppy and having no luck..I tried stacking some pillows on our bed and laying him on his side...knocked out. This tells me he is going to need a really squishy mattress in his crib if such a thing exists.  Post a recent pic of your sleeping baby!!!

  • My critter has a red faced breakdown when he needs a nap. He'll fall asleep as soon as we put him down, but never just wherever he is !
  • @LizB8943‌ samsies! Same jumperoo and everything.

OMG. I'm so jealous. This kid naps if being held in a dim room, in complete silence. I can't take a pic because I'm always holding him and staying still as a statue.
Same. I don't have to hold him the whole time but it's a battle to get him down for naps. We're leaving him with my Dad for 6 days in October and my ONLY concern is how they are going to get him to nap. He seriously melts down when he is tired.
  • In the same boat as @Kfran84‌ and @cagoldi‌. Every once in awhile he'll surprise me. I have no clue how we got from him napping in the noisy living room in the swing to complete and total quiet/dark. Below is one "surprise" time.

Us too. Falling asleep while playing will probably never happen for us!
  • Whaaaa???! Babies actually can fall asleep in the jumper/swing/high chair? And while playing?

Yeah we're in the picky napper club obviously. DD only takes about 20 minute cat naps during the day either being rocked to sleep or in the carrier. Before that she'll cry to be held or in the carrier. Hmm... Guess we'll really have to work on this!!

These are the cutest pics ever, mamas!!!
  • My big accomplishment this weekend was after 4 and a half months I was able to rock N to sleep.  Of course, he still screamed for 5 minuets but I didn't get up to bounce.  I dream of the day he will fall asleep without throwing a tantrum first!  Also, not having to be swaddled would be the cherry on top!

  • Oh man if only naps were that easy! I'm in the "red faced, tantrum throwing, rocking, shushing, patting, nursing" camp. Then I only get about 20-30 mins if that! Walks are a no go now he screams the ENTIRE time! Cars are worse, wearing is hit or miss! In fact as I am typing this I was actually able to transfer to the swing and I'm almost afraid to breath cause it might wake him up! Lol

  • E prefers our bed too, especially with one of us lying next to him. The cuddles are wonderful, but they do nothing for the cleanliness of our house. I was insanely happy when I got an hour in the pack n play last Sunday. He usually wakes after 20-30 minutes no matter how quiet we are.

The duration E naps on weekends makes me wonder if the day care provider is exaggerating nap length during the week :-)

We've had it for about a month and a half. He took to it really well but i wouldn't say the first time was a success either. I read so many reviews saying their kid slept 12 hours for the first time ever and I was SUPER excited. But that didn't happen for us. Womp womp :( He napped in it for about 3 weeks before he wore it overnight. He slept aweful. Waking up almost every hour. Did it for 3 nights and I was done. So we are back to swaddling and night with his arms pinned down. He doesn't have his startle reflex anymore, he must associate swaddle with nighttime. I'll try again in a few weeks since he's going through a growth spurt right now. He absolutely loves it for naps though. As soon as I put him in it he's all smiley and closes his eyes.
  • Excuse my typos, won't let me edit
  • L usually naps 30 minutes...ish a few times a day, but today DH had the afternoon off and we decided a nap was in order, so we cracked open the window for a nice breeze and we all crashed. DH and I slept for about an hour and L 1 1/2 hrs! I think she's going through a little growth spurt because she has been eating like crazy today!

The other day at MOPS I had L in the Moby and she was sitting there sucking on the edge of it, smiling at everyone and giggling while I was talking to a friend. All of a sudden I felt this thump in my chest and I look down and L is face planted in my boobs dead asleep! So funny!

The pic is of L asleep on the floor next to me while I was folding laundry. DH had gone to bed while she was still wide awake so I kept her with me so he could sleep.
