Where is the Pause Button?!?

Ladies...

I don't know about you but I need to know where the Pause button is LOL.  I can't believe that next month our LO's will be 1!  Seriously, where has the time gone??  I see her development weekly and it blows my mind just how quickly time is flying.  I know, I know...everyone tells you how quickly it goes and that it happens at a blink of an eye and to enjoy things as much as possible because before you know it they're graduating HS, etc....etc LOL but OMG!!!!

Anyone else want to find the pause button???

Re: Where is the Pause Button?!?

  • Me I do especially since dd is our last and I go back to work in 4 weeks

I love all the changes and I love watching her figure things out but I want her to slow down. I just want everything, every regular everday thing to burn into my memory. I plan on having one more and I know when it is the last I will be even more sentimental.

I still have trouble believing my sons got so old so quickly.

Edit A is also one of the younger babies as well. I love that by the time A is a year old many other babies will have already turned one and hopefully we will have seen some pictures of parties. It helps prepare me emotionally.
  • May 31 baby here but yes I cant believe he'll be one in less than two months. I said I would like to start ttc around one and it's fast approaching.

  • This feeling is hitting me hard since O was born early, so he's (one of) or the oldest on this board. He'll be 1 next Tuesday. I always said I wouldn't be a mom who wishes away time - backwards or forwards, but these babies grow up too fast!

  • DH and I were talking about this last night, I miss her being a newborn and I can't believe how fast time has flown by. I am excited that we can do more things with her though and also that she understands certain things.

  • I feel the same as so many of you, I am enjoying how much more interactive she is these days and so many things have gotten easier in the past couple of months but, at the same time, it does make me said that she won't ever be this small again...I never realized that it would be emotional to get to age 1 lol.  We also plan on having 1 more so God willing we'll get the baby phase again but still...it's our first for everything.  Though, I must admit I don't miss all the motn feedings etc.  Those first few months were tough.

DD started walking this weekend, that's what got me thinking about all of this <sigh>.

  • I often wish that life was controlled by the remote. Pause, rewind would be great. June 3 makes us one of the youngest, but in also amazed at the progression. Just trying to treasure it all.

  • @Angela183-   we are June 3rd too!  I can't believe how fast it is all going.  I do wish I had that pause button for real.
    image
  • @angela183 and @coffeeandbooks‌, funny that was my DD, but she had other plans and came two weeks early lol. May 21st.

  • Tell me about it, April 27th for us, but I look at my 3 yr old and can't wait to see them running around together.  DD2 is trying her hardest to go after her sister.  Amost have a walker here
  • I'll admit I was guilty of wishing away time this weekend.  I slightly wish that DS could talk so I can actually mean it when I say "I don't understand you when you whine." I HATE the *eh, eh* when he wants something.  And then I look at a picture of him looking more grown up every day and I stop wishing it away.
  • ^^ right there with you.

Same bday here! We went to our friends son 1st party yesterday and all i could think about was ours in 3 weeks
  • I have one of the youngest babies on the board since she didn't arrive until June 1st. I still feel like her birthday is so far off. I miss the squishy baby days, but I'm so looking forward to watching her grow up and continue to develop as her own unique self.
    I also have a June 1st baby! :-)

Miss them... ha! Hard to miss something that never went away. :-<
@Trish625, your little guy still eats in the motn too? C can't seem to drop that feed. Is it because they're so big they just require more? Our pedi said he doesn't need it but he acts starving.

Yes, he nurses twice usually, which is totally unnecessary considering his size! Pedi said he definitely doesn't need it, but that if it gets him back to sleep the quickest then it's probably the best option. Half the time he acts like he's starving and if I try to just rock him he acts like I'm a stranger trying to abduct him. Other times he will fall right back to sleep once the boob in his mouth. I think I'll cut him off at a year.

J still wakes to eat MOTN too and he's FF now! I figure it's the easiest way to get him back to sleep (for now) I'll ween over the summer when I can nap during the day.

I really want time to slow down. This is our last baby and since my first DD is going to be SIX in 2 months and i just can't even believe how fast time has flown with both of them, I'm definitely wishing for a pause button. Other parts of me can't wait until DD2 is big enough to walk well and understand things so we can enjoy more family outings together.

    edit: I missed a word.

  • June 1st baby here as well! But yeah, time is going by SO fast...I do miss him being little but I like the fact that we can do more things with him & he loves to explore, so that makes me happy :)

A woman in the mall stopped us and complimented C and said it made her sad because her baby boy was about to turn 18. I am dying for C to sleep through the night but in that moment I knew if I was that woman I would give anything for my son to be a baby, waking up in the middle of the night and just wanting me to hold him. I will cherish the baby/toddler years:)
Maybe this is why I don't mind at all that A does not sleep through the night or that she thinks bedtime is somewhere near midnight. (bedtime used to be 4am, then 2am so we are getting there) My oldest is 18 and can't wait to have his own career and life and house. My youngest son is getting his drivers licence soon. You blink and it's gone.

That being said, there are amazing times to be had with your kids as teenagers. (tough but amazing) We can still have a lot of fun together and spend a lot of time together but it will never be the same as when they need you for literally everything and a simple cuddle can make their world ok.

  • blush64             Oh my I cringe at the thought of teenage years. I am already prepared to hate kindergarten. The first time I go to give DS a hug before school and he looks at me and says mom not in front of my friends I will cry the whole rest if the day.

  • @aintnoyuppiemom‌ to be honest I have cried as they have gone through different stages. They make fun of me for being so sentimental and emotional sometimes. One rule for them as they got older is they don't have to give me a hug or kiss but they have to let me hug them. They have been fine with that. (Especially as they get older)

The hardest thing for me has been watching them be hurt and not being able to fix it or make them all better. The world sucks sometimes and it hurts to watch them figure it out. I guess that part has not gotten easier for me.

  • blush64 it must be hard to watch them get hurt, I am not looking forward to that either. You sound like you have already done so well with your older kids so you must have so many good moments to out way the bad. That's all I can hope for I guess be there for the bad in whatever way he needs me and cheer him on through the good.
