Breastfeeding

LO still won't take a bottle. .

DS is 8 weeks old today and still won't take a bottle or pacifier. We've tried latex nipples and pacifiers.

We've tried playtex drop in bottles and the medela ones. He will be starting daycare in 3 1/2 weeks. I've tried to go out of sight, out of the room. DH is home 1.5 days a week so it has been hard. Ice had my mom and in laws try but he just spits it out and will not suck or leave it in his mouth.

Dr said to just keep trying different bottles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • When starting my baby on bottles the first few he would only take from me.  I know that is opposite of what is suggested but you might try it.  I just held him as close to the breastfeeding position as possible.  I started with a slow flow Avent bottle with the larger nipple to simulate a mothers breast but turns out he likes the faster flow of the Medela bottles and I think it is due to him being used to my forceful letdown.

  • We had the same problem and I thought I waited too long to introduce. It was recommended that I try lansinoh's momma bottle and she took it immediately!! I did warm the milk and offered the bottle myself (MH was stressed from the previous failed attempts).
