Nipping sniffles in the bud?

So my 15 month old took an extra log nap with me in the car today an woke up sounding stuffy. Not in his nose but his throat is grovolly (I know that isn't a word)!
I hope it isn't a cold and suspect it is likely a reaction to the fact that we are doing renos (laminate) in the house. How can I help him not get to bothered by dust and nip sniffles in the bud? Windows are open, fan an air purifiers are going in the Reno rooms. I am making sure he is drinking fluids.
I normally am not too bad with colds or sniffles but I am so close to birth I would like to avoid it becoming something bigger!

No advice but to keep up what you're doing....it seems like the renovations are probably the culprit. I hope you all stay healthy!
