So we had a thread awhile back regarding late talkers. DD was one of them. In the past two weeks or so she has had a small language explosion. She has been in EI for a few months now, but is picking up actual 2 and 3 letter phrases. This morning when DH left for work she clearly said "Daddy go bye". Yesterday I said "no we can't go outside right now, come this way" she said "That way!! That way!!!" She also hates getting her teeth brushed, so I let her watch my husband and I said "see, look at Daddy's teeth." She said "Daddy tee, Daddy's tee".
Who else's LO have said anything new lately?
Re: Talking Success!!!
She also says "Ball-balloon" for balls or balloons...
We have an average of a new word per week, we'll get somewhere someday...
We don't have K in speech therapy, but after hearing some of this I think maybe we should? He has a little girl in his class that has a speech therapist come in 2x a week and work with her, so she would have notice if K needed it too right?? Ugh. Now I 'm paranoid.
K says maybe 25-35 words regularly, but they are easy ones. (Dada, ball, owl, choo choo train, uh oh, down, pleas, thank you, hey, eye, ear, poo poo, shoes, up, off, cheese, light, hot, more, Avery, Zaley, bubble, water, and a handful more that I can't think of right this second). He rarely puts them together into phrases except "there it is" and "bye dada". Those are the only ones I think I have ever heard. When I try to get him to say "more please" it turns into "please please" or "meese".
And it seems to me that he is very lazy with his speech. For example, he says dehdeh for practically everything that he doesn't have a specific word for. And with harder words, he turns them into some form of dehdeh. Shower is dedesh. Macaroni is mehdeh, elephant is ehdeh. Mommy is behdeh (I have no clue why!). Mimi is deedeh. Should I be worried? Because I am. LOL.
